So we are ready? link The convention season nears. I have been painting and now flocking like a mad thing.
So will I dishonor my house and name if I put these on the table like this? |
dragon6 | 20 Apr 2016 4:43 p.m. PST |
No but the photo makes it seem that a wash would improve them. If they have one it's just my monitor Good to go |

I count at least 4 colors so "yes". They are ready for the table if you like. Like Dragon6 says. A wash over them would bring out the details. |

What am I looking at there? Ghurkas and US Marines? Look OK to me. |

I have fielded much worse, and many times. But if they've been washed, you might want to consider a little dry-brushing of coat and hat. Depends on when the game is, and how long the painting queue. |

I think Terry was answering his question about losing honor and such if he played them. I think they look very good. |

There is a fable, someone put a empty strawberry milk carton on the table, and declared that it was a Leman Russ. This was a "tournament game". And way back, an unpainted army won a WRG 6th edition tournament. So the organisers stipulated armies must be painted, so the next year the SAME army was spray painted (one colour), and ran as Late Romans ( the figures were Aztecs). Some details may hazy, but the overall story is true. So, your figures are ready! |
GarrisonMiniatures | 21 Apr 2016 2:42 a.m. PST |
If it was a WRG tournament then Aztecs would not (or should not) have been allowed – don't have a set of rules handy but figures are supposed to look like the things they represent as far as equipment, etc, go, and I'm trying to work out how that could be claimed between Aztecs and cavalry-rich Late Romans… Unpainted figures were generally banned in most tournaments long before 6th Edition – probably nearer 3rd. Regarding the actual topic, look fine to me. |

At the bare minimum a miniature does three things: It identifies the unit. It shows the location of the unit and it shows the facing of the unit. Anything else is gravy. That being said I have always felt that miniatures gaming is about pageantry. The table or gaming area should capture the visual attention of the viewers. be the players or observers, or even if they aren't gamers at all. |

Add more random stuff to the bases (rocks, different colored grass, whatever) to break up the flock. The flock looks too uniform. |
PHGamer | 29 Apr 2016 8:17 a.m. PST |
To answer your question, yes, they are ready. If you are interested in adding more random stuff to the bases, I never empty my flocking box. I just keep adding more stuff, diluting previous grass and brush and adding different mixtures. Also, I sweep the driveway for small stones to add. Investigate the spice rack, some spices are seed pods that look good on a base. |

I like simple bases so I would say the color of your flocking is taking away from the view of the figures. |
kahunna | 13 May 2016 6:37 a.m. PST |
The figure are well painted, but I am against flocking. Just paint the bases. That gives you someplace to write unit details on. That way if you end up in a mass HTH combat, you can tell which figures are in which units. |

I always liked what the owner of the LGS told a gamer when someone 'questioned' his paint skill. "You bought them, their yours. If Your happy with the way they turned out. Then THEIR RIGHT." God knows I have (at times still) do much less in clean detail. Let'm Fight!! |
