Is there a supplier who does the not-howling commandos?

Redroom20 Apr 2016 4:23 p.m. PST

There are a few in the Heroclix line (in WWII gear):
Dum Dum Dugan
Gabe Jones

I think Artizan does some, too.

I made mine form Peter Pig figures and did a few simple conversions. Not great pictures, but you can see them here

I have seen Terry's figures earlier. I enjoy seeing them every time. Excellent work well done.

Is there a good WW2 era not-Captain America and not-Bucky?
It's a shame I missed the pack that was released a few years back.

Cheers

The Captain America and Bucky show up on Ebay and the prices usually are not too bad. That is where I got mine. A lot of Heroclix conversions are possible too.

The Eureka figures are a bit on the small side. There is the one figure that looks like Sgt Fury but he really is small compared to others. More like 25mm instead of 28mm. If you are going to mix with other makers you may want to consider that. To me Sgt Fury should be larger than life.

I am working on "the original" Marvel Howlers, with Sgt Nick Fury. I did a conversion from the Reaper Sgt Mack Torry for Fury, used Dum Dum and Gabe from Heroclix, and found a British commando with a Thompson SMG (with an added Heroclix umbrella) for Percy Pinkerton.

Izzy Cohen is fairly easy since he just wears a helmet. Just need to finish with Reb and Dino to complete the group. Of course there is also Eric Koenig too.

Now I just need to figure out how to do the Blitz Squad…

Piv99th, Love your Captain America, Howling Commandos and red skull – plus the other characters! Well done.

Our 'American Sarge' Nicholas Furious from our Projekt X range can be found here link

Plus some British colleagues (scroll down the topic for the colour pics)

The full range here including lots of infantry packs link

The range are all 1/48th scale and I am currently mapping out some conversions and new additions (so suggestions welcome), as well as writing the rulebook

One very key aspect of Sgt. Fury is that he always wore the ammo belt around his neck, but usually carried a Thompson. Guess it was just his trademark I plan to make the ammo belt for my 15 MM figure adding it to a Thompson armed GI.

Terry,

Actually it was Sgt Rock that carried the ammo around his neck but carried a Thompson.

Sgt Fury usually started out with more standard US Army equipment but would wind up totally with things totally ripped up.

Jack Kirby did some images of Fury, early in the run, with the ammo around his neck but it wasn't always there like Sgt Rock.

I spent way too much time reading Sgt Fury and Sgt Rock as a child. Oh, wait, sometimes I still do.

Terry3711 May 2016 12:25 p.m. PST

Opps! My bad, I knew it was Sgt. Rock, not Sgt. Fury. In fact I am putting together figures for a Sgt. Rock army. Thanks for keeping me correct Piv99th! Funny, but i too remember the Sgt. Rock comics, but not really the Sgt/ Fury ones and I'm an old guy!
