Hello all. I know the Hessians, like the Prussians, had schutzen in their brigades (regiments) who were within the Musketeer and Fusilier companies. However, I can find little info on the uniform in the pre-Shacko (bicorne) era. Does anyone have any info? Thank you. |

\ Another from Knoetel, suggesting that there were battalions of Fusiliers – green uniforms. Don't know about individual "Schuetzen." GdeP |

The Prussians in 1806-1807 used a marking on their hats. Usually a black pom-pom, otherwise the weapon was different (some rifles) but the same uniform as the musketeer battalions. |

There were 7 schutzen per company – my sources make no mention of any distinguishing features on the uniform or bicorne or that they were armed differently but …… Just looked at Osprey MAA and that says 10 schutzen, rifle armed though makes no mention of distinguishing features on the uniform…. |
