Has anyone tried Black Powder for VSF games ? Staying in the period before the Second Boer War I envisage move and firing to be about the same as in the main book but with smaller units (possibly representing Companies) as outlined in the ‘Zulu' supplement. Most VSF innovations involve technical inventions but at ‘Battle' level I suggest this would mostly be Steam Tanks. Has anyone put together some rules for these vehicles in BP ? Maybe a Morale save of 2 and a stamina equal to the # of crew would be the way to start. with a ‘Special Hit' table used when Stamina was reduced. Stamina would still be recoverable, but not as easily as with a normal unit. Once stamina exceeded, a ‘Morale' throw would determine whether the machine simply stops or maybe explodes …. Even flyers could be dealt with like this but with a much higher chance of being shot down – even a single company can put up a LOT of lead against a fragile flyer. Other devices and inventions are fairly straight forward, with – for example – Electric Cannon just being Artillery, and Armoured Suits being a better Morale save. Has anyone tried this yet ? |

Haven't tried it, but should work fine. Just work out suitable stats for any specific units such as Steam Tanks. |

There was a steam tank in the Warmaster rules, perhaps look to those for inspiration? |

Yes my group has used BP for VSF. Having a higher/worse command roll and bigger chance to blunder are ideas I played with. And each machine should roll separately. |
