Does anyone make sailing ships smaller than 1/3000? Besides Navwar who makes 1/3000 sailing ships? If possible please provide pictures and quality information on the miniatures. TIA, Allen |

As far as I know the only ones stating smaller scale are those from Tumbling Dice at 1/4800. I have some of both packed away somewhere, if you can wait until tomorrow (UK time) I can compare them and post. It is too late here tonight to do that. |

Tumbling Dice 1/4800, and I think there's another range in that scale too – maybe Old Glory or Forged In Battle? |

link Westwind/Forged in Battle is the only other 1/3000 Age of Sail I know of although Gallia used to but I believe the are defunct. Tumbling Dice does 1/4800. link |

Aha, cheers McKinstry – I was misremembering the scale for Forged In Battle. |

It looks like East Riding Miniatures have the Lamming ships link But they don't have any listed. It might be worth dropping them an e-mail if interested (I have a lot of them from the days of Lamming and then Gallia – they are very nice models) |

The old Gallia (and later the Borlase range which were very similar) were supposedly 1/3000th but actually not very well scaled and probably the hulls were a good deal smaller. Both the currently available ranges (Navwar & Tumbling Dice) are significantly better than these were. The Lamming ships look better detailed but not possible to assess their size. Tumbling Dice 1/4800 are reasonably well scaled and, like the Gallia range, are a single piece casting. Navwar 1/3000th come as a kit with separate masts with cast-on sails, they seem to be well scaled but hull details are quite exaggerated (I like that at this scale). The hulls are quite detailed and well modelled but masts are thin and not very sturdy. Personally I think they are too delicate to stand up to wargaming use unless you have very careful players. TD ships are less detailed but very sturdy, a bit fiddly to paint but they are designed to be used en-masse where an individual paint job matters less. |

Forged in Battle 1/3000 are cast in a single piece, and are quite sturdy (at least the British ones, which are under studding sail; the Allies are cast at topsail & jib, so they might have flimsier masts). |
