I do--thanks for sharing! It was nice to get a set of nice photos focusing on the terrain. I didn't scan them all, but I don't recall seeing any mat-based games--the vast majority of it seemed the standard foam + plaster. Thoughts? |

That's supeb – thanks for the pics Mel. I have to say that it shows the quality of the terrain at the show and I also have to say that I have never seen better, anywhere, ever (and I've been to a lot of shows – incuding that last 38 Salutes…). Geat eye candy. John T |

Thanks for the pics and vid. I'll never get to Salute, it looks like a great show. It would be great if there was an info sheet for each game available on the web, listing terrain sources, figures, rules, contact for further info etc in bullet point form. e.g. I'd like to know if the ECW terrain was scratch built. As another suggestion, perhaps the organisers could video the games using a model railroad style, like in the example below. FF to the 23min mark. Pick a scene, film it for 30 secs, pan and zoom etc. Table level view. YouTube link |

Fantastic stuff. John, that Hammers table has to be one of the best yet. Hope you'll post info on how you pulled that off, truly inspiring. |

Thanks Mel for a great walk around of the other games as I didn't get much time to have a look :) I was running the Slammers game at the beginning of your video so only half an hour to go and grab some loot ;) McWong73 I'd seen pictures of the build and finished table before salute but was blown away when I saw it flesh at 9am on Saturday morning :) Playing the game was really cool as both Paul and myself had big smiles on our faces all day :) Thanks to John for arranging :) |

McWong – ta but all I did was put the parties into the conversation together: it was Matt's team and the guys from 4Ground and Andy Lyon from Ainsty that did all the work. I'm just pleased it came off so well: I love it when a plan comes together! John T |

Some of the best photos I've seen yet! The photos of the two Victorian town boards are from my own clubs fast-play IHMN game. Could I please ask permission to use these specific photos on the Lead Adventure site for my own report as these beautifully illustrate the game (with appropriate credits of course!) |

@Mel Rewatched your vid tonight with mates who were running the Trek game and – by definition – saw very little of the show so thanks again for that. From my perspective I really liked the concentration on the tables, letting them speak for themselves, and I don't much want to see a 'reporter'* introducing traders and 'personalities' at the show for an hour (a little is okay but…) What I really wanted to see was the games and the toys and your vid really helped. There's been a lot of talk about there being 'too many trade games' at the show and I have to say that – however many there were, or weren't** – it has made the rest of the games, club games especially, really up their efforts. Jon Tuffley of GZG once said to me (when I questioned him about rivals in the 15mm SF business) "A rising tide lifts all boats". Never a truer word was spoken when it comes to the wargaming at Salute. The sheer effort that went into trade games at the show over the last few years means that, in my opinion and experience*** the club games have never looked better and I really do think it's a combination of material being available (how many MDF building sets in how many scales are available nowadays? G'zillions) and just the competition from 'professionals' – many of whom are just gamers like the rest of us but now running a company – and that just ups everyone's effort. We live in a golden age etc etc etc. John T * No names no pack drill ** And I hope more club games get in next year if there's room *** I go to a lot of shows and have been to the last 39 Salutes |
