With the convention just two weeks away, just wondering what you are looking forward to. Also what games are you looking to play in, or have signed up for?

RKE Steve19 Apr 2016 6:03 a.m. PST

And who is going?

Rich Bliss19 Apr 2016 6:04 a.m. PST

The boy and I will be there Friday night. Better be, we're running our first game Saturday Morning

Looking forward to the 54mm Rorke's Drift & Alamo games with my son. I'll be running Sergeants Miniatures Game, and hopefully playing in one run by the designer.

I'm in a Lion Rampant game Friday night and the big Games Plus sponsored Team Yankee on Saturday.

We received some very nice prize support for the Team Yankee game and all the other FOW games. The Team Yankee game would not have been possible without the sponsorship from Games Plus.

I am going, I am running a Check Your 6! Jets game Saturday morning, helping a friend run his Napoleonic Sailing game in the evening and shopping the rest of the time.

Sigh….

I'll be missing it.

Would love to go but probably won't make it this year. The gang likes to go for one day to shop and check out the flea market. Last year the new hours for the flea market meant it was closed while we were there. I don't see that changing so we are not as apt to go.

I will be there with Weasel-boy. In addition to trying out some Team Yankee and spending like a drunken sailor, I hope to check out the layout of the flea market area in anticipation of my Little Wars sell-a-thon next year. Let the culling begin.

Inkpaduta19 Apr 2016 12:41 p.m. PST

My son and I will be there.

T Callahan, if I can get into it, I will try to get into your CY6 Jets game.

I plan to be there on Saturday, and hopefully bringing a friend. It will be my first time at Little Wars, or any gaming convention really. I'm looking forward to seeing what it is like.

I do wish the game descriptions in the event listing were required to specify how much, if any, experience you need with the rules in order to play in the event (and enjoy playing in the event, I suppose). A few mentioned that you should be familiar with the rules, and a few mentioned that you didn't need to be because they would be taught, but most didn't mention either way.

There are some rules sets I'd like to try out, but don't want to bog down the game by not knowing how to play if everyone else is a veteran. Or worse, have the others who know the rules just tell me what to do, and I'm just there to roll the dice. But this time I can observe the games I have some interest in learning about and get a good idea how they are played without committing to playing the entire time.

Rich Bliss19 Apr 2016 3:05 p.m. PST

Albino-

My bad. I forgot to specify in my descriptions this year. Both my games are no experience needed. I think that should be the standard for anyone running at a convention.

RKE Steve19 Apr 2016 5:45 p.m. PST

Albino, typically if thr judge only wanted players that know the rules they say so. Must of our judges will gladly explain the rules. I usually simplify rules a bit for people that don't know the rules.

Wish I could….

New job (second week). Bad form to ask for a couple of days off this soon…

To those going: Have a BLAST!!!

I'm going. There are a few folks who consistently host games that I like to play in and I typically preregister for one or more of their games. I'm in an ironclads game (riverine action) on Friday night and then a Regimental Fire & Fury game of the Iron Brigade's first fight at Brawner's Farm (Groveton) on Saturday night. I hope to get into another game or so on Friday and Saturday, but will have to see how many games are actually being run versus the crowd. Nothing beats standing in the line to get an event ticket only to have the last ticket handed out to the guy in front of me.

If there is a game you really want to play in talk with the judge. Many will work something out to get you in. I know I usually do.

Albino, come introduce yourself, just ask for the convention manager

Striker19 Apr 2016 9:28 p.m. PST

The kid and I will be down all 3 days and I'm running the battleship Naval Thunder game. Definitely going to do some buying (especially I-94). We're planning on getting into open spots throughout the weekend to try new games. Star Wars and auto dueling are already on the list.
