Dentatus | 18 Apr 2016 7:34 p.m. PST |
Yes. Two guys actually. Plus several more occasional generals. |
gamertom | 18 Apr 2016 7:42 p.m. PST |
Yes, he and I try to game every 2-3 weeks, usually on a Sunday afternoon. Have been gaming with him for almost 25 years. Played a game of Battleground WWII with him yesterday. We had a discussion about how to interpret the results of some hit locations. I hit a halftrack's MMG "pulpit" removing the MMG and the crew member servicing it. Now if you use the rules as written, you only do this after rolling for the damage caused by the round if it penetrates. In this case it was a 75mm round zipping through virtually no armor and one would have a nearly 25% chance of blowing up the halftrack using the penetration damage chart. We both agreed there are some hit locations for which that table shouldn't apply and for which the special results on the hit location chart should solely be used. Those rules have had several iterations and errata published in a variety of means that it's easy to come across nonsensical portions. |

Yep. Regular buddies and group for several games each month. BA, Napoleonics, FOW using 20mm, occasional COE ancients. Game scenarios depend on moods I guess unless on regular schedule. Example: Bolt Action report from last weekend at St. Crispins Game day meetup in Anaheim CA. link
Same group of players… this time 28mm FRW action the weekend before. "Tussle in Republican Italy 1797" link

No longer. My friend and I gamed every Wednesday for 20 years. He died of cancer two years ago. Now I am almost completely a solo gamer. The nearest FLGS is too far away though I play once or twice a year in a pick up game. |
KSmyth | 18 Apr 2016 7:56 p.m. PST |
I have several friends and groups of friends I game with. They have become somewhat exasperated with me as my job seems to demand more and more of my time and energy. My oldest and dearest friend and I have played miniatures, board games and RPG's since 1978. He's retired. I can only dream at this point. |
Narratio | 18 Apr 2016 7:57 p.m. PST |
Likewise, no longer. Clive died earlier this year. Now it's all solo gaming. |
Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut | 18 Apr 2016 8:17 p.m. PST |
I had a few good gaming buddies, but we all drifted in different directions. I was buddyless for about a year, but then Bashytubits contacted me here on TMP and now he and Mike are my new gaming group. We game almost every Satyrday now. |
Murphy | 18 Apr 2016 8:17 p.m. PST |
Yes I used to…but it's been a long while since we played… |
21eRegt | 18 Apr 2016 8:37 p.m. PST |

Many and yes, I know I am fortunate. |
Micman | 18 Apr 2016 9:36 p.m. PST |
I am lucky enough to have a bunch of gamer friends within a 60 mile radius of me. Some of us get together weekly( KSmyth could join us if his job didn't keep so darn busy) Then there is the group of Regimental F&F players on the first Saturday of the month. Follow that up with a game on the 3rd Saturday of the month. So yes I part several different groups that get together on a regular basis to roll dice and BS. Life is good! |
Doug MSC | 18 Apr 2016 9:52 p.m. PST |
Yes about a dozen regulars that game with me every month and wouldn't miss a game. |
wrgmr1 | 18 Apr 2016 10:04 p.m. PST |
Our group has 10 regulars and 3 ancillary players. Usually we have 6 to 8 per Thursday night. We played golf this afternoon. Link to my Photobucket with lots of photos of our games, conventions and figures. link |

Not so much any more. An old friend an I get together a couple times a year for games, but we're more than a 100 miles apart, so it is rare. I hosted a weekly game for about 15 years, but various demands on all of us made hosting games much tougher for me, and nobody offered to share the load, so the group faded away. Now I play mostly solo games. |
Timotheous | 19 Apr 2016 4:23 a.m. PST |
I have at least one regular opponent about 10 minutes away. We usually play on a Tues or Thurs night. There are others within an hour's drive, so I see them on an occasional basis. |
Dynaman8789 | 19 Apr 2016 4:53 a.m. PST |
Yes, one boardgame opponent I game with every few weeks and one online ASL player the same amount. |
Rrobbyrobot | 19 Apr 2016 5:37 a.m. PST |
I used to be stuck as a solo gamer. Fortunately a fellow TMPer got me involved with a great group in a relatively nearby city. I've had plenty of opponents for the past few years. And enjoyed my gaming immensely since. So, my heartfelt thanks to Ashokmarine and TMP! |
Extra Crispy | 19 Apr 2016 5:51 a.m. PST |
Yes…and several gaming groups as well. |

Yep. I'm fortunate to game with my best friends. |
epturner | 19 Apr 2016 6:34 a.m. PST |
I get to see both Winston and John the OFM once in a while. My regular group in SE PA is sort of in suspended animation, but we do get together. I also trek out to Gettysburg once in a while to roll dice and push lead with the GAG. Eric |
Old Wolfman | 19 Apr 2016 7:07 a.m. PST |
At least a few, around the Columbus ,Ohio area(I travel there by bus);seeing each other nearly every month, and one who I usually go to the some of the cons with, from Northern KY. See a fair number of old game buds too at the cons. |
Ceterman | 19 Apr 2016 7:32 a.m. PST |

vtsaogames | 19 Apr 2016 7:38 a.m. PST |
Three regular members of the Corlears Hook Fencibles with a couple irregular visitors. |
ordinarybass | 19 Apr 2016 10:04 a.m. PST |
I've got a club with about 2-5 other regular members who I'd definitely call Wargaming buddies and some occasional players who are good folks also. We've been meeting for 5 years now. Looking for new members if anyone likes indie Sci-Fantasy gaming in the Chicago or near-Chicago area. link |
jrbatso | 19 Apr 2016 11:52 a.m. PST |

FuriousGamer | 19 Apr 2016 1:46 p.m. PST |
Yes, The Furious Gamers Association, NE Ohio's elite gaming group. Play regularly, semi-sporadic newsletter, good times. Been going strong since 2004, about 6-8 regular members, with various hangers-on. Lotta drinkin', lotta smokin', lotta killin'. Home of Gaming Legend Gwyn Reeves. If you can't stand the heat, get outta the kitchen! |
John Leahy | 19 Apr 2016 3:59 p.m. PST |
Yep, my buddy Ed, my oldest son Sean and my buddy Rob are my main gaming buddies. The guys I have been gaming with for 25+ years now. Now I have my house and the whole basement our frequency of gaming should see a drastic improvement! |
114th Pennsylvania | 19 Apr 2016 5:30 p.m. PST |
Absolutely, South Eastern Pennsylvania is full of Gamers. There is a core group of about 20 guys that play regularly. We run and play almost everything. We are very blessed to have a great group, but I am hearing more and more stories like Allen57 post. Very sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, but I am sure you have many fond memories of Glorious Victories and crushing defeats. I know that Gaming Legend. He is a true warrior, drinker, Game Master and always a good guy for a laugh. He made me watch Gods & Generals after playing First Manassas in 10 mm. Who was I to say no to the Legend? About time we start a blog to document all the fun. |
Old Contemptibles | 19 Apr 2016 10:40 p.m. PST |
There is one person I can always count on. |
Green Tiger | 20 Apr 2016 3:35 a.m. PST |
Yes, there are two of them , we have been playing regularly for about 15 years now. |
Great War Ace | 20 Apr 2016 6:59 a.m. PST |
It's kind of like a spouse dying when you lose your gaming buddy. But even more sad is when "divorce" ends the relationship earlier than death. We still got together for "movie night" (aka "old guys' night out"), but I stopped gaming with him for the last two years of his life, because our "philosophy" of gaming had drifted too far apart for me to reconcile (aka "have fun"). I don't feel badly about my decision, but it was a sad change…. |
etotheipi | 20 Apr 2016 9:56 a.m. PST |
It's kind of like a spouse dying when you lose your gaming buddy. For me, those would be identical. |
Cailleach | 21 Apr 2016 6:11 a.m. PST |
My husband and daughter when she is home from uni. |
