I lost my military challenge coin at some point on Saturday at Salute. It must have come out of my back pocket when pulling out any number of things and the din prevented me from hearing it hit the floor. It's a brass-colored coin and is for the 352nd Special Operations Squadron. Even though this might be unorthodox to ask here and somewhat insignificant in the great scheme of things, I ask here because it has great sentimental value and I would very happily compensate the finder. Awww, sorry that the coin has gone missing. I hope the person who found it recognizes the significance and turns it in. I assume you've contacted the organizers. A sentimental loss can be a nagging, sad feeling, so here's to the joy of being reunited with your military challenge coin. |

There's a good chance of you being reunited with it. Carrier bags full of miniatures have handed in before. Good luck. |

Sorry to hear this. Hope it is returned. Would this mean you are about to be constantly paying for beers? In that case would get a ersatz coin as a line of defense. Could you ask your association to be on the look-out for anyone that shows up with a dodgy story? Militaria collector sites (dont know if these have any intrinsic value?), ebay? Good luck. |

Sorry I wasn't able to comment until now…had to wait out the three day period. Getting a replacement might be possible as I have connections back to the unit. But this one was my very first coin ever and the only one I ever carried; even though I received many afterwards. It was a reminder of my best assignment. I'm since retired and don't have to worry about being challenged (other than being with my other vet friends), so carrying it is more of sentimental/for luck/habit/idiosyncrasy. From what I can tell, collecting coins is a subset of the militaria scene and value is subjective. |
