The choice was, travel down to "that" London and Salute or stay in God's own and finish some ships. Ships won.

16 of the 50 present complete this weekend so with a November date for our refight at the Royal Armouries things are on track.

Ships are all 1/2400 GHQ.

Neatly done how do you pick these up without damaging them?

yarkshire gamer17 Apr 2016 1:38 p.m. PST

Cheers Hammerhead,

They are picked up very carefully and I find the threat of overwhelming physical pain stops people dropping them !

The bases are quite sturdy it's only really the masts on the German ships that are fragile and thankfully they are more "bendy" than "snappy".

That grey north sea looks cold!

How are you going to do the refight? Are you looking for players?

Alan Lauder17 Apr 2016 11:50 p.m. PST

They are fantastic – great work – very effective paint job and your sea base looks as menacing as ever! The detail is remarkable on the GHQ ships – alas, out of my price range.

Those look fantastic – I have all the ships in Navwar 1/3,000th somewhere, I'll have to dig them out. What rules are you using?

yarkshire gamer18 Apr 2016 9:23 a.m. PST

Cheers everyone,

Idontbelieveit – good question! Still ruminating on the how. I'm getting the painting out of the way first. As it's a public display as opposed to a wargames show its an interesting one. May be on the look out for players once the his is sorted, are you close to Leeds ?

22nd Foot – home brew rules, keep an eye out as when I get chance I will be putting them up on't blog.

Very impressive. I'm working on a series of commemorative games around the 100th date. I,too, cannot afford those beautiful ships so am going with CinC and Viking Forge 1/200s.Your technique is very good. Excuse me, I have to go paint some battleships!

Thanks for posting the pictures. I was hoping you would. :-)

I can't wait to see pictures of the action. You'll probably have to stand 20 feet away just to fit the whole thing in the frame! Or use a fisheye lens or something.

Did you pin the turrets so they can swivel, or do you just have some glued down at angles?

Funny you should mention that…. grin

One of the guys in my gaming group has a metal backed white board in his office/converted garage. We use 1/6000 ships with vinyl magnetic backing (for storage purposes) and run games on his white board all the time. One nice benefit is that we can use dry markers for marking torpedo tracks and such.

Ah 4th Cuirass, I wondered where you where, lol.

I especially took the above photo (with no visible edges) just for you !

I haven't fully decided on the format of the game yet so I haven't ruled out the possibility of hiring a massive industrial freezer and playing the game verticaĺy ;-)

Hi, Yellow Admiral, I did consider moveable turrets but due to the size of the project I went for the simple more robust fixed turrets.

The British Battle Line stretches about 18 ft so its going to be big.

Cheers all
