What do you own? Not sure the quantity of any of these is very interesting though I know many can't own just one.

1. Revolver
2. Automatic handgun
3. Shotgun
4. Mag fed rifle
5. Other rifle
6. Not saying
7. Blackpowder musket
8. Blackpowder pistol
9. None and never will
10. None but someday will

Go ahead and quibble with my designations – maybe a better poll will emerge.

Some firearms are illegal in the country where I live.

For me it is the same as with smoking, sex and religion. I do not practise any of those, but if the others do, good for them.

Owning a handgun in the UK is illegal as far as I know. Rifles and shotguns need a licence which is difficult to obtain. Am not sure about black powder weapons.

Since you asked… A revolver, several semi-auto handguns, several semi-auto rifles. Plus assorted pellet and BB guns. (More of those than actual firearms, really.)

KTravlos16 Apr 2016 10:10 a.m. PST

10. I want to buy a blackpowder weapon one day. They are legal almost everywhere and are intersting. That is about it. Beyond that had my fill of firearms in the army.

He has a 6 you know, which is the equivalent of your 11.

Not a thing, but some day, I do want to own a couple of ww2 era rifles, just to hang on a wall or something.

A gentleman carries a sword in any event :)

9…I'm a British civilian.

We don't do things with guns unless we live on farms or went to a top public school.

I'm curious about all the 11's though?

Why such a big deal?

vtsaogames16 Apr 2016 11:31 a.m. PST

12. In the distant past had .22 bolt action, 12 gauge shotgun (also bolt action), 9mm pistol. Have fired but not owned black powder rifle and pistol. Last week fired 9mm and .22 pistols on range with my brother in law.

Used to tend a real 1750 era Potsdam musket. Then the owner took it back. He called it a rifle. Shucks.

If I moved to a rural area I'd be tempted to get a rifle or carbine. Keep the klansmen at bay.

Weasel, I do have a sword. Just the thing for the 21st century.

Multiples of 1-4, however, they were all lost in a tragic boating accident…

Swordcane. Arkansas Toothpick, Carved Jamaican cane. A very very sharp Roman Dagger,

Almost bought a AR-7 years ago.

Realised early on that I'm fascinated by firearms until I have one in my hand. Then the magic goes away and I'm stone cold sober.

I may get a crossbow, less restrictions here.

William Warner16 Apr 2016 11:43 a.m. PST

7 and 8, both leftover from my reenacting days: Brown Bess musket and Colt navy revolver (sold my Enfield and Springfield muskets long ago).

Cuz we don't want the gubmint takin' our guns.
The less they know, the better.
And we KNOW the Feds monitor TMP.

None and probably never will – but you never know

goragrad16 Apr 2016 12:41 p.m. PST

Shall we say that I am on record (shouldn't be but they do manage to get their hand on that paperwork in spite of laws prohibiting the keeping of a database) as having in the past purchased all of the above (excluding the black powder pistol and rifle/musket – no background check on those).

Current possession/ownership of those items is a 6 or 11, although I am also on record as having hunted deer and elk in the last couple of years.

wrgmr116 Apr 2016 12:49 p.m. PST

12) used to own, not any more.

Glengarry516 Apr 2016 1:04 p.m. PST

9… I'm in Canada…
I do have an ancient Czech small calibre air rifle, if that counts!

14Bore16 Apr 2016 1:25 p.m. PST

Just a opinion explanation to those over the pond.
Firearm ownership is while a legal constitutional right (see 2nd amendment) many people don't see it that way and wish it would go away. So there are court battles every day going on back and forth the outcomes can't be counted on one way or the other. So those who have them might not want to see that right go away.

Hope this explanation passes the muster.

14Bore16 Apr 2016 1:28 p.m. PST

I have always since I was a kid wanted a black powder civil war era pistol, even in reproduction but have never bought one.

I've nearly bought a black powder longarm a number of times over the years, but haven't gotten one yet.

I have an original colt navy 1851 from 1856. It's in doubt if it's smart to fire it.

11 – Gun grabbers will use info to take them away.

nazrat16 Apr 2016 3:00 p.m. PST

That's simply ridiculous, dude.

hocklermp516 Apr 2016 3:21 p.m. PST

I came into an inheritance rather late in life and bought everything I ever dreamed of and then some. Then I made the epic mistake of marrying a gun hater who never let up and also laid a major league guilt trip on me for having a lot of money tied up in them. I sold off almost everything including a mint HK-93A2 I had an A3 stock for and a Benelli 12 gauge that is the Maserati of semi-auto shotguns. Then she has me busted one night for yelling at her in "an obscene and threatening manner" which no kidding is a crime in Kansas! She told the cops I had guns and was crazy so they carried off my HK45 Compact, Ruger Mini-14, and AR-15 and "lost" them. Nice. So now I am down to my trusty old K-Bar and have a criminal record for the endless 18 hours in jail for being loud, crude, and lewd. And broke too. As the Wicked Witch of the West once said, "What a world, what a world!"

13. None. I currently have no use for one. Like anything else, if I had a use and it passed the calculus of prioritization against my other needs, then I would.

Kansas confiscates guns for a misdemeanor?

Kevin C16 Apr 2016 5:46 p.m. PST

1, 2, 3, and 4. I don't care who knows, because in my part of the country almost everyone owns firearms (most more than me).

Kevin

The Tin Dictator16 Apr 2016 7:56 p.m. PST

Add semi-automatic handgun to the list.
Since I suspect that most who said they own an automatic handgun are mistaken.

Then put me down for an 11.

11. Guns? What guns?

brass116 Apr 2016 8:35 p.m. PST

Colt Diamondback .38-caliber revolver
Mossberg 500 12-gauge shotgun (20" barrel and extended mag)
SMLE No.4 Mk.1*

Given that there are sales records for all of these, I'm not too worried about "gun grabbers", whatever those are, getting on my trail from a message on TMP.
