Led By Peter Stagg during most of 1865 under Devin's 1st Division

Cant help much have not found a lot of unit strength information during that time period

Not sure if this will help much

Did find some references to Brigade strengths in the 2,000 to 2,500 range during 1865 period (Note Devins Division strength was around 6,000 for 3 Brigades during this time period).

However there was some details on strengths
5th MI – 899 mustered out in July, 1865
6th MI – many transferred to 1st MI a small number mustered out in nov 1865 – in 1866 – 316 (now with the 1st) mustered out
7th MI – many transferred to the 1st MI a small number mustered out in Dec 1865- in 1866 – 351 (now withthe first) mustered out
1st MI – reinforced by forced transfers from other MI Brigade Units in 1865 and sent out to the west – 1866 – 571 were mustered out

Regimental inventories in the period from January to May of 1865 indicates the following arms were carried in each regiment:

1st Michigan Cavalry – 352 Spencer Carbines
5th Michigan Cavalry – 234 Spencer Carbines
6th Michigan Cavalry – 309 Spencer Carbines
7th Michigan Cavalry – 268 Spencer Carbines

How the number of carbines relates to the unit strengths still needs to be determined.
