Et Sans Resultat – the name of their Napoleonic rule set. But I had to go to their web site to find that.

Does one need to be familiar with the rules in order to participate?

I hope more people add games. This was going to be my first year going to Little Wars, but the games I wanted to play in filled up in pre-registration. Since I was only planning to go on Saturday, I'm guessing that any spots that open up will be taken by people who register on Friday before I get a chance at them. So it sounds like if I go I'll end up not actually getting to play in any games, so I might as well not go. Though I'm still out the money. Disappointing, but I guess I should have registered earlier or not bothered.

I hope in the future they can add some indication on the website of which games are already full, so people don't pay the registration fee only to discover they won't get to play.

What kind of games are interested in? I can bring some stuff to run another game Saturday, potentially.

Sounds nice.

Unfortunately work demands my presence elsewhere and thus I am unable to attend or run my two games…

Perhaps next year…

There are more games than what was in the PEL. What are you looking for? Tickets for events are available 2 hours before the event starts on site. Depending on the game you want there still may be room on site. Not everyone shows up for a game they pre-reg for especially if they find a better game on site. In addition some judges allow a extra player or two in the game. Plus we will have 2 War College seminars and we just added a demo from Badger Air Brush on how to use an air brush.
Not to mention the paint n take is back and the Flea market.

Actually, registration for games does not open until 2 hours prior to a game running.

Ah, that is very good to know. I didn't realize that. So maybe I'll still be able to get into a game if I am there at the right time. Do you know how early on Saturday registration opens? There are games that start at 9:00 am, but does that mean registration will be open at 7:00?

Or maybe I can just hang around the games I'm interested in and hope someone doesn't show or drops out. I was mostly hoping to play in the Black Powder games, as those are the rules I have played. I might be interested in playing other games in the ACW, AWI, or Napoleonic periods, but only if the rules are simple enough to pick up quickly. I wouldn't expect it to be much fun to play a game if you don't really know what's going on.

I probably would like observing some other games being played to get an idea of what they are like. But I'm not sure it's worth going if I don't know if I'll actually get to play anything. Well, maybe next year I should volunteer to run a game of Black Powder with my ACW miniatures. But now I'm getting way off topic for this thread.

My game on Saturday is set in 1860's Afghanistan. It's completely open right now and I assure you, you'll have no problem picking up the rules.

We do not allow games to be totally filled during pre-registration. There are some Game Masters that have developed a pretty good following and their games fill up fast. But even if there is a game that you see and you really want to play, talk with the Judge/Game Master. He may be able to get you in. As an example I usually plan in advance to take more players into my games than listed in the PEL for that reason. I think you will find most game masters will take care of you if you ask. All the games are in one room, so it makes it easy to check out all the games being run…enjoy the convention.

Saturday events will be available at 8am and maybe a bit earlier. Depends on how quickly we get the desk organized. But you will most likely see a line.

Albino, at any big event there is always a line. I generally only attend Saturday myself. My strategy is always to get up and get there early so I'm near the front of the line. Works well enough, and most GMs can fit you in if you ask so long as you get to the game a bit before it starts. Depends on the game of course but ive never experienced a problem except selecting the game to play.
