I love the 15mm snake men KS even if it does not fit my plans but it made me wonder how likely is the "three limbs" – two arms plus body/tail – design?

Two legged/two armed common, 4 legs common, 6 limbs, 8 limes, etc., but three limbs – does it ever occur in nature?

Yes, I know it is Science Fiction and the figures look good so who cares, but this did pop into my mind and I thought some others might know if this ever occurs in nature?

Well this should have been 15mm SF but it can stay in 15mm fantasy…

Well, depending on how you look at it, it happens all the time in aquatic species.

Young tadpoles start with a tail and then grow back legs before they grow front ones…

Apart from that, I can't think of any others.

Genetic mutation throws a few curveballs now and again so maybe a slow worm could have a mutation that doesn't prevent the front limbs growing, just the back ones… so you end up with something that looks like your snakeman but is actually lizard based rather than snake based.

Gokiburi,

Great work!

There are some species of snakes that have tiny vestigial arm and/or leg buds.

I've seen two and four-legged ones, IIRC.

Not really sure now, if they are snakes, or lizards, but with such small limbs, and similar appearances, that distinction is really lost on me – has to do with their skeletal structure, I think.

You could also frame it that the snakemen are uplifted, ala Vargr.
