What? In a movie or in reality? Because at least from Ernst Junger's Storm of Steel, you would not get a lot of hand to hand combat. Lots of lobbing of grenades. That was the close quarter battle. Most films about WW1 give a very very bad impressions of how WW1 was fought. Hand to hand combat looks exciting, ergo gets over-represented. People lobbing tons of grenades at each other does not look exciting, even if indicators point out to that being the close quarter battle.
