Hallelujah!!! I'm proud to say I just got my copy today from Warlord Games. Very heavy book, lots of material, even has a nifty looking set of 15mm games going on. Also got my Sharpshooter figure as an added feature. |

Got mine. Nice looking book with real heft. ACW specific rules and scenarios look very good. Scenarios read well and are entertaining. Army lists are worth scanning for unit specs. There are some special units (Iron Brigade, Irish Brigade etc) with specific stats. Lots of period fluff (potted history, famous commanders etc) Section on adding naval elements to games looks interesting. Won't be able to try them for a couple of weeks but looking forward to it. Sharpshooter figure is very nice. |

There is one problem that I have found with Black Powder and that is layered command. For US Civil War: Regiment -> Brigade -> Division -> Corp -> Army Black Powder has a 3 stage command: Unit -> Division -> Army so it could handle Regiment -> Brigade -> Division |

The book has some rules to add another level of command. So you could do: Regiment – Brigade – Division – Corps. Not tried it yet so can't really comment on it. |

Sounds Interesting. Will get a copy after it settles out or shows up at the conventions. |

Keep in mind that ACW Regiments fought as regiments and rarely, rarely broke down into battalions. So, it actually makes sense to use the rules 3 stage command, except for specific scenarios. |

Also, how often will you be doing a scenario at a Corps level or higher?!? It that level, you either need to use a much more abstract, high-level set of rules (like DBACW), or just play a boardgame. |

Got mine a few days ago as well. It is indeed a very nice book; much more content than I was expecting and loaded with pictures. The sharpshooter figure was a nice bonus. Gonna get him painted up when I start up my ACW project, which is next in the queue. Paul |
