A Good-Looking Army in a Reasonable Amount of Time

Painting a wargaming army is a completely different beast from painting a single miniature for display.

Here are a few photos of the unarmoured Samnites set that we received from the toolmakers yesterday. Armoured Samnites are on their way so hopefully we will have a few images of those by Salute.

Julian will have stocks of them at Salute if you are attending.

The detail has come out really great on these and there is plenty of variety in pose and equipment.

I am not attending Salute this year but will be busy working on the shield transfers for these which will be ready early next week.

Macedonians are out in May we have bee told by the toolmakers.

Steve.

Outstanding. I look forward to the Macedonians/phalanxes.

Any chance of Persian/Parthians/Sassanids?

@ Bobby W
Exactly. The Samnites look great and add more options to the various clashes between Republican Romans, Carthaginians and Macedonians Sucessors (e.g. Pyrrhus).

But I was disappointed when Victrix announced yet another Imperial Romans range. Surely a range of decently sculpted plastic Persians would have sold better?

(I am not a fan of WGF Persians – in common with their earlier sculpts they are a bit odd proportions – I am a fan if their later models so they definitely improved).

But Victrix plastic Persians would have been perfect opponent for Victrix plastic Greeks and Macedonians as would give historically matched opponents and would probably further boost sales of Greeks and Macedonians as well.

I am hopeful we'll get Parthians or Sassanids out of Victrix yet; they would make good enemies for the Imperial Romans.

EDIT: That's doesn't take anything away from these amazing Samnites!

Will, IMHO go with Aventine for their Parthians and Sassanids! Mike Adams P.S. I would have like Caesarian Romans

Although I love Aventine metals, a box of plastic cataphracts could be awesome. I think only Perry and Victrix could do them justice. There are many possible options in plastic that can't easily be done in metal.

Top class product here again.

Armored and unarmored Samnites are available on the Victrix website, along with shield transfers.

Great. Can i use samnites vs hoplites?
Why victrix don't make greek cavalry?
