Holy cow! Is it harder or easier to cast a unit in a long strip like that?

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP12 Apr 2016 6:36 a.m. PST

Can't compare. At least I succeeded to cast. I am sad, that I was not able to cast my "ready for use" 3-men stands. As result I was forced to put in unit less man than I planned and no grenadiers at all. I must do separate unit for grenadiers.

Long strip is obligatory, if I want handle the unit package. There are 12 troopers in unit, but 14 in strip. In case if some troopers don't cast properly. If all casted well, then these 2 will be bonus figures.

Have question.
The converged grenadier unit commander, mounted officer, must wear fur cap as troopers, or bicorne as other higher officers?

von Winterfeldt26 May 2016 5:37 a.m. PST

bicornes for mounted officers

Thanks! I suspected this. Don't seen any evidence about fur caps on mounted officers. This year's silicone and lead shipment just arrived, I may finish with last mould from current projects (6mm Austrian Grenadiers) and start sculpt new ones at last. Just casted proper equipment for 1:100 French Revolutionary Infantry.

wow – even Grenzscharfschützen

Kevin Rouse painted these figures for me. Kev offers a great service! All I did was base them and add the pike/shooting sticks for the Grenzscharfschutzen. My hope is that Sho will add some cavalry and artillerists to his line.

Yes, cavalry will be.
After I finish commissioned 1:100 sets.

Those look great! Trying to get an idea of the footprint – are they based 4 per 20mm frontage or thereabouts?

sthp2115 Jun 2016 6:02 p.m. PST

They are indeed on a 20 x 20 metal base with eight figures per base. With the larger Adlers I mount 6 figures per base, but Sho's looked right with 8 per base.

I mount the Adler French Rev shoulder-to-shoulder on 5 per 20mm. It takes a little clipping and is very tight, but looks great. It certainly looks like you could do the same with Boki's.
