Peter Pig might have a few…. They certainly have US Marines for the period.

As far as I know there is not one manufacturer makes proper Marines for Guadalcanal. They need to have no helmet covers, untucked pants legs, and they need to be carrying Springfields. It's a line I would love to see in 15mm!

A great point, KB!

At least one company makes a uniform/weapon specific 20mm line of everything needed for Wake Island, Japanese SNLF included (I'd plug their name, but The Fossil is having another Senior Hour).

So why doesn't the same visionary manufacturer, or other Far Seeing sculptor, produce at least TWO more similarly dedicated lines of mini's--in any likely scale--to encourage wider gaming of the Pacific War?

Specifically, Jonathan's suggestion for Marines/US Army for Guadalcanal, dressed and armed as they would have LOOKED on that God Forsaken armpit of the Pacific--and similarly ragged and hungry looking Japanese--should be an inspiration to game the battles there, and the rest of the Solomon's as well.

And, along the same lines, but even worse conditions (if possible), how about a dedicated line for the Philippines '42--particularly Bataan and Corregidor? The old "Tin Hats," more Springfields, and even older equipment, for the National Guard and Army Units sent there, but also their old style uniforms and kit, should be the key to success for such a line, particularly if they can be made to appear appropriately worn and starved.

And let's not forget the native Philippine Army, and their famous units (The Scouts, and the Horse Cavalry that fought at Lingayen, etc) that must be part of the range.

If the Perry's (Gawd Bless 'Em!) can produce Fresh Frozen French for the Retreat from Moscow for the sheer drama, as well as at least Skirmish gaming opportunities, then SOMEONE should be able to produce WW II ranges that capture the spirit of US/Philippine/Japanese soldiers in these equally dramatic campaigns.

What companies/sculptors/scales do the readers of this thread suggest are best suited to do this, and could they do so with honest expectation that we would buy them?

Although the sculpts are nice in and of themselves, Eureka's Marines unfortunately leave a lot to be desired. Their weapons are far too fragile for regular use (the IJA ones are even worse) and they are all wearing leggings with their pants tucked in. I have books with hundreds upon hundreds of pictures of Marines in the Pacific and I'd be hard pressed to find more than a couple where the soldiers' trouser legs are tucked into their leggings.
