Can anyone suggest game stores, clubs, book stores, hobby shops, gamers in Eastern Kentucky or the Tri-State area? (KY, WV, OH)? Thanks! |

There are a number of gaming groups located around Cincinnati and environs. Where are you specifically? Worth joining the local HMGS chapter too. There is a convention in Springfield Ohio (Advance the Colors) worth going to. |

HMGS Great Lakes hmgsgl.org You will find info about local cons, stores, and gaming groups. I think things are pretty sparse in your part of the state; I know there is a group out of WV that meets and runs a con. |

Probably your closest wargame club is the Kanawha Riflemen, who are active in the Charleston WV area. I'm not sure if this contact info is current, but I'm sure the club is still active: link They participate in the annual Charcon gaming convention in Charleston, usually held in October. Here is last year's website: charcon.org Cincinnati is a much longer drive from Ashland. There are number of good hobby shops here. One of my favorites is Boardwalk in Mt. Lookout Square: link There is an annual three-day gaming convention Cincycon that you might want to drive up for and book a motel room. Actually it's in Hamilton, a few miles north of Cincinnati. You just missed this year's con: cincycon.org |

So here is what you need to know if you are in Ashland: We have a fairly robust gaming scene here. In Ironton there is a shop called The Goblin Traders across from Wendy's. The Gamers of Ashland, KY meet there once a month for a game day. The Gamers of Ashland, KY have a Facebook group, hit that up, I'm one of the admins there. Also just a few miles down the road is a Hobby town USA in South Point, OH that carries a few boardgames, x-wing, GW, Wings of Glory, Warmachine, and a healthy selection of 1/72 models that we use for historical (myself and another gentleman are trying to get together for Bolt Action with 1/72). I actually live in Portsmouth and there are two comic shops, one of which has a burgeoning gaming scene, tabletop on Tuesday, MTG on Wednesday and Friday, RPG's on Thursday. It has a fair selection of boardgames. Not sure of what all is in Huntington, but there is a comic shop and a hobby shop near the university. Purple Earth comics and Hometown Hobbies, don't know what they offer. Also as far as conventions go, the first weekend of June is Tricon which is a comic convention in Huntington, no gaming -yet… still a good little local con and a way to get your geek on; you are also only about two hours away from Columbus, OH which has Origins Game Fair in June as well; In September over in Huntington WV there is Tsubasacon which is an Anime convention, with a strong comics presence and last year they had a 40k and Warmachine track as well as MTG tournament. In October over in Charleston WV, is Charcon, more info about that @ charcon.org |

No problem, it's not a hotbed of gaming activity, but we're getting more stuff going little by little. |
