Possibly old news to many out there but I've recently gotten into a Yale course on the history of the Civil War and Reconstruction given by Proff David Blight that's on YouTube.

The 27 lectures run at around fifty minutes each and cover the social and political build up to the conflict, the war itself and the Reconstruction period.

Blight is an engaging speaker and although it's an essentially academic style of presentation, with all manner of quotes from people I suspect most will never have heard of, not least because a lot are from American literature, as well as historical writing, it's really drawn me in.

So far I'm up to #13, a certain Fort in Charlestown Harbour has surrendered and things are starting to roll.

An informative listen and great to play while painting!

Yes Yale Lectures series have some great courses. I often listen to them while I paint.
