Recently I completed Soult's primary attack versus the allied southern flank at Albuera using the March Attack rules. Here's the scenario…..AAR to follow. madmacsattic.blogspot.com

Dear Both, The terrain is great. I would love to post a couple of my photos from the field (taken last fall) that correspond to Madmac's tabletop. The similarity is striking. If someone cares to advise me how to post a photo, I will do so. James Arnold Napoleon Books

The terrain cloth is really nice. Is the scatter material (rocks/sand/small bushes) glued to the mat or just sprinkled across it? I have the MA rules -- loved some of the concepts, but had a really difficult time trying to play them and gave up in the first game. I thought it was a rulebook organizational issue more than any failings of the rules themselves. Did you learn the rules on your own or did someone teach you? |

Hi tshryock……I learned the rules myself…..I added some house rules that will be listed in the AAR…..these rules don't feel right for smaller battles…and they are not intended for such. For a large game they play well….for Albuera, I was very pleased with how the rules performed. |

Oh….and the debris is scattered on….not glued. |

Hi Sean, I am pretty sure that we have met at Doug Kline's house. Anyway, for whatever reason, I cannot cut and paste photos onto this site. I can easily send them via e-mail. If you like, write me: napoleonbooks@gmail.com and I will send a few of the relevant images and then maybe you can post them here. Cheers, James |

This is a photo of the southern knoll where the French artillery was placed
A picture of the Spanish position on the ridge
Finally, here is a photograph of the "killing ground" on which French and British troops engaged in a vicious firefight Thank you James ! |

What is also interesting is that none of the ridges or knolls are extremely steep…..typically rolling terrain. Yet, for blocking line of sight and artillery sighting, extremely effective. |
