Work continues at an amazing pace! Well for me anyway. I got 2 more Units based up and ready for greenery. Applying my formula paste to the metal stands, is my least favorite part of the process. I always manage to get it all over a couple of figures. It's mindless, tedious, frustrating work. I managed to do about 30 stands this past week. Not only that, I also was able to drybrush the entire lot. One coat of Ochre and one coat of Sand (both FolkArt cheapo paints). The Ochre dulls down the Bitter Chocolate earth color and the Sand color really makes the "rocks" pop. This week will feature lots of tufts, grasses, flowers and weeds. Perhaps a downed branch or two. This is the way the stands look right before the grass mixtures are applied. Figures painted by Roger Boschetto. Two nice-looking units! How do you make your "formula paste"? I like how it completely obscures the figure bases. |

The formula paste is made from Liquatex Resin Sand Matte Modeling paste, Folkart Chocolate Cherry or Bitter Chocolate paint, sand, talus and some Woodland Scenics fine and medium ballast. Mix everything together. It's easier if you take half of the virgin Resin Sand paste and put it into a second jar. This way when your finished, you have 2 jars of the stuff made. Resin Sand is getting difficult to find around here. I've tried lightweight matte modelling paste and that works just as well. When you see those 50% off coupons for Michaels, LOAD UP! |

Thank you for the formula. I'll try it out on some 28mm militia cavalry I'm working on. |

What scale are the figures please? |

I just use spackle and dip it in sand after applying it to the base. Used to do a bit of re-enacting with a Crockett's unit. |

Used to do a bit of re-enacting with a Crockett's unit. Did you carry a flag? I'm wondering what to use here? I've got 2 flag bearers and need some ideas. |

I doubt light battalions carried flags. The British ones didn't given their composite nature and duties. |

Supposedly La Fayette supplied his light infantry with a couple of flags. |

"Supposedly La Fayette supplied his light infantry with a couple of flags." Seems plausible. If the commander wanted to pay for it, it was very likely doable. There still are lingering misunderstandings about it, though. How long did the Monmouth County Historical Society claim to have "LtCol Monckton's flag?" It was very likely a Pennsylvania Continental divisional flag. Grenadiers didn't have them nor was there any record of it I'm aware of. Rebels might have been less fussy about that sort of thing. |

What did the Crockett re-enactors carry, if anything? |
