AMGAS takes on Team Yankee with their first TY Video Battle report.

It's Soviets attacking US in a 100 point Hasty Assault!

Enjoy!

That game while well presented and fun to watch actually lowered my opinion of TY. Ratio of T-72s to M1s looks wrong. Vehicles are WAY too close together. Vulcans lead the way? What? And finally, killing Hinds with M109 copperhead rounds? Seriously?

That's too much suspension of belief for me. I fear it would require too many houserules to fix.

Sadly could not hear the person who was playing the Soviets eve with cranking up the volume. I have to agree with Dan I do not like the vehicles being so close together. It is just how they would deploy.

I havent read thru the rules yet, but I tend to agree..
A SPG (designed for barrage fire) and great for brakeing up massed armor formations, but shooting down a chopper?

Granted, if war has taught us "anything", its that anything is possible.. but seriously, what are the chances of that being successful?
Another gamer or two that have read & played have mentioned much the same issue; "the Hind being shot down far too easily".

Just a quick observation, but just perhaps, they, someone should -post- a blank data card, for those that feel the stats could use a 'tweek' here and there, and create their own. Perhaps even convert the game stats to an all D10 system?

Thanks for the comments guys. While I realize TY might not be everyone's cup of tea I've found it pretty fun.

@Dan W. Ratio of M1s to T-72s being off and scale. What Ratio of M1s to T-72 would be acceptable to you? just curious. Scale is what is it, you don't like 15mm. play with 6mm GHQ stuff. Lots of options out there.

Regarding Vulcans it was a tactical choice. At that moment the VADS had three options, move forward into the tree line and engage the landing helos, stay put and conceded the Tree line to RPG heavy infantry or fall back, removing your AA bubble from your tanks.

I've always considered FOW and by extension TY to be the movie version of event. Sure, hitting a Helo with a Copperhead would be pretty hard I think that Rambo could pull it off :-)

@ Part Time gamer. Agree, a lot of games would do better on a D10 system. Also I believe that on the TY forums there are guys that have blank data cards. (They make variants all the time).

Thanks again!

@Buckaroo, I have to say, I didnt think of 'Rambo'.. (slaps the forehead) of course!
But seriously.. TY looks like a lot of fun, the mini's, OUTstanding! Thats all I need, another game that Im dying to get into (Ugh!)

I have even considered going to 10mm.. or some other company just to put more 'tanks on table', but my 'days of lugging lead' are over. Its pretty much plastic or nothing now.

@Dan, as for the T-72 / M1 ratio, I think thats basically a 'scenario' question. As for being too close, well we all know miniature scale is one thing, ground scale another, just the 'price' we pay for cool stuff to game with.
However I think I understand your point; when I look at 28mm – 1/56 BA Tank War. Huge tanks 6 or 8 in. apart and its "only" short range!? So from that point, that game pushs MY suspension of belief limit.

As for the D10, I think if a "gamer' had been around when they first made dice, he would have made it the d10, whats easier to figure than 1 = 10%. Just a thought.
