Ordered a bunch of Pendraken's new WW2 Poles and while waiting for them I looked on line for some painting inspiration. I noticed that Flames of War uses a strange almost cream color, as well as a foresty green on their Polish equipment. Looks odd to me as my books and other sources show a much more yellow sand, olive green and mid brown. Any comments on the more correct colors? |

I believe the camo scheme was pre-1939, but during the German invasion Polish tanks were plain olive green. |

Interesting that you should say so, every source I can reference shows the three color scheme. |

I've done Polish camo. However, while I started out with more muted colors than the FoW ones in the end I decided that they work because they stand out in that small scale very well. Over time I've gravitated away from realistic colors to colors that pop at scale. |

Apologies, the 3 colour pattern was used at the time of the German invasion. Can't think where I read they reverted back to olive green. |

When I painted mine I used the old GW snakebite leather for the yellow shade. It seemed to work well enough. If you search on my blog you'll find some pics (15mm) paintingshed.blogspot.co.uk IIRC the green was GW catachan green and the brown was actually dark flesh. All then washed with Devlan Mud. |

There are two kinds of Polish three colour camo scheme, the older 'japanese' scheme with hard edged stripes of colour, and the soft edged airbrush scheme used in 1939. Most model pics I've seen are in fact of the old scheme. See
for an example of the supposedly correct one. Cheers, Aksu |
