Ive ben looking through Shapeways and I have found 1/350 to be common scale. What do you think about it as an aviation scale? |

Doesn't make much sense for wargaming given the amount available in 1/285 – 1/300. Basically 1/350 is a ship modelling scale, so other than Shapeways you'll find very little available beyond a handful of plastic sets, chiefly from Trumpeter, of carrier aircraft. |

I believe helmet miniatures in the 1970s did a large range of WW2 aircraft. martin |

Glad it made it OK. :-) And yep, you're spot on Martin – they actually resurfaced a few years ago but seem to have disappeared again – there was a chap selling big job lots of them on Ebay for a while. |

As DOM said, 1/350 is a naval modelling scale. You can find a bunch of planes in that scale used for placing on the deck of carriers. |

I've never used any 3D service, but can't they just "dial in" the scale? Or is it more complicated than that? |

It is not quite that simple but in general if you ask someone to try and rescale it…they will under the auspice that you will buy some. If the print fails Shapeways will cancel it. |

Not related to the 1/350 question, but I've had a good bit of luck with Shapeways guys re-scaling aircraft for me, 1/144 WWI stuff to 1/288 and 1/300 to 1/600. |

Depending on the cad software, it is easy to scale down. Scaling up may be a bit difficult depending on the model. Shapeways, I do not believe has a control on the scaling of the files. They are stored at whatever scale the uploaded file was saved at. So if you needed a change of scale, the owner will need to make the mods in their software and upload a new file. |

Some use it, but generally it's less popular, and more expensive than some of the other scales. |
