What I'm probably most excited by (regardless if this movie is even any good) is that this shows that Disney recognizes that 1) there's a lot more story to tell then just Skywalker family drama and 2) People will still want to see stuff set during the original trilogy. -Will |

Now if only we could convince them to create a film featuring a certain blue-skinned Imperial admiral and a certain red-haired Imperial agent and I'd be in cinematic heaven. -Will |

Wow. A prequel that could actually be good. |
Grignotage | 07 Apr 2016 6:53 a.m. PST |
On the one hand, I'd really like the new producers/writers to make up entirely new stories, set outside of the old trilogies and with none of the old characters, other than maybe a few offhanded mentions or asides. On the other hand, this movie looks really good. |

And (speculation)… here's Rey's mom. |
Dynaman8789 | 07 Apr 2016 7:33 a.m. PST |
It has a few overly flashy bits (sword/staff flourishes when guys with guns are coming) but I am looking forward to it. |

Star Wars meets The Dirty Dozen! Count me in! Ron |
darthfozzywig | 07 Apr 2016 8:12 a.m. PST |
^^ I heard two years ago that was the pitch: Dirty Dozen meets Star Wars. I was immediately sold. Teaser looks amazing and I've heard only good coming from the set so far. |

I have a sneaking suspicion that many Bothans will die to bring that information to the rebellion … Doug |

Can we get a Star Wars movie without a Death Star in it or swirling around the plot? Please? All these Death Stars are getting a bit thin in our family. I assume I'm in the minority on this topic, though. |

Bothans died for the plans to DS2. The Empire obviously beefed up security after the events of Rogue One… |

Wow, that looks great! Although I notice it continues the Whedon-esque trope of "teenage girls kick ass and rule the world!" That's getting a bit stale by now. |

I don't know. The Force Awakens was awful, and I don't want to get my hopes up that this will be any better. |

Good trailer. Hopefully the film lives up to it. Also AT-ATs on… a beach? With sun, and sand, and palms? Is that even possible? |

It's not a popular opinion but I thought the TFA was awful which is why I am angry at myself that I think this looks good. How may times will I let them fool me into going to see a film that just ruins Star Wars for me?..at least once more, apparently. |

it looks like what MS Gundam 08th Team did for the Original Gundam. Which is cool. |

Also AT-ATs on… a beach? With sun, and sand, and palms? Is that even possible? AT-ATs never made much sense anyway, for a galactic power that has anti-gravity technology. But the beach makes sense, or if it doesn't now, it will with the liberal application of rum and tequila. |
boy wundyr x | 07 Apr 2016 1:09 p.m. PST |
Hopefully the AT-ATs roam the beach to the tune of "Flight of the Valkyries" – maybe a very slow-paced Flight of the Valkyries… |
Rob Richardson | 07 Apr 2016 1:28 p.m. PST |
I don't really follow Star Wars much, but from the title, I assumed Rogue Squadron was about a group of star fighter pilots, and was looking forward to it. The space battles have always been the best bits IMHO – the only watchable parts for some of the movies. Dirty Dozen in space…. My kids will probably make me go, but I am no longer looking forward to it. |

But seriously, maybe if they just keeping making Star Wars movies they will eventually make you like? :) -Will |

Can we get a Star Wars movie without a Death Star in it or swirling around the plot? Please? All these Death Stars are getting a bit thin in our family. I assume I'm in the minority on this topic, though. I'm pretty sure this is the same Death Star that Luke blew to kingdom come in EP IV. We're just seeing how those plans got stolen in the first place. -Will |
boy wundyr x | 07 Apr 2016 3:10 p.m. PST |
@Rob Richardson – I had assumed that the title referred to the first Rogue(s), which then maybe gave the squadron the name. In the (now defunct) expanded universe, what we seem to be seeing in this movie is like what Rogue (slightly) and Wraith (moreso) did – fighter and ground ops. |

If Force Awakens was made for the OT fans, this looks like it was aimed for fans of all the computer and console games. I like it. And its Manny Bothans (singular), not many Bothans ;) |
Ghostrunner | 07 Apr 2016 4:08 p.m. PST |
Good riddance. Manny Bothans tried to hit on my wife. Guy was a jerk. |

Many Bothans died to steal the Death Star 2 plans. This is the film where they're introduced as friendly, funny background characters with families, full of optimism about their futures. |

I get it – AT-ATs are an homage to Hannibal's elephants – but they are a stupid concept for a war machine & I hates them (almost as much as I hate Yoda & growed up whiny Annikin – both worse than Jar-Jar in my book) AT-STs are cool though |
javelin98 | 08 Apr 2016 4:42 p.m. PST |
I've always loved this Penny Arcade strip:
"Just start killing Bothans. I'll tell you when to stop." |
