There are British: link and Xhosa link Looks like a pretty good range of figures there. The Cape Town Levy would be useful for a variety of things. The officers in shell jackets and casual dress would probably also work for a number of different conflicts. Many of the British could probably also do double duty as skirmishers in BAL force in the FCW perhaps. All around a pretty nice range of useful figures. |

I agree; good for a variety of things and what-ifs. |

Awesome. This is one of those odd little periods, I just really want to game, for no good reason. I see this as a nice little TSATF period. Eric |

Anyone know how Perry stack up with 1st Corps? They have a very nice range as well…. |

Perry and 1st corps works fine together. This range from 1sr corps is one of their best. Much better than the ACW stuff |

ep--One good reason would be that you wouldn't need masses of Xhosa; they quickly changed their Zulu – style mass charges for guerrilla tactics:skirmishing, and ambushing small parties and supply columns in the bush. The need will be for lots of dense terrain:"a maze of intersecting ridges and bush-choked valleys" to quote Ian Knight's Osprey book. The two center officers in CFB 3 appear to be carrying double-barreled carbines--cool! I hope these fit in,size-wise,with the Old Glory First Maori War figs,of which I have plenty. And I hope they'll be doing Cape Mounted Rifles, mounted and dismounted. For those who don't have them,Ian's book, and Michael Barthorp's British Army on Campaign(1),are recommended. Also,Noel Mostert's"Frontiers" for history. 1300 pages! What made it hard to finish, for me,at least, wasn't the length, but the terrible and tragic end of the saga. Harry Smith fans should be warned that,as opposed to Sikh War accounts, here he comes across as a real jerk. A TMP Cape Wars search will bring up some interesting discussion. And it looks like these will be must buys: TMP link

I think these are brilliant. A great new range and an interesting and exciting if little known period. I am a bit downhearted though that they never finished the African tribes in the Sudan range before moving onto these. |

Travellera: Good news. Going to need some of those carts and wagons. |

Very interesting. Some of those, especially the Cape Town levy, look like they could fit into Seminole Wars in Florida, among others. |

The levy would also be perfect for the Texas Revolution. |
