I'm getting into Space Fleet, the old GW game from the 90s. Here's my first blog post covering my thoughts on it at this point. Hopefully might be of interest to some old players! link |

I loved the design of their "sword" ships. |

I wouldn't mind getting in on some of this action if possible. That's quite an impressive fleet you've amassed! |

I really think there's more game in the WD-added stuff than in the original. I only wish, at the time, I had been more adept at making my own Hit/Miss mechanic when the game came out. I always thought the Imperial were 'too pretty' for them. When BFG came out, and the Eldar were characterized as space pirates, I thought I might try making the old Imperial as 'tame/High' eldar. ;->= Of course, I had these GLORIOUS plans of a full out Doom of the Eldar, including a Seaquest-converted craftworld. And, don't you love that the old 'nid spore mines also made it onto the 40K battlefield? Doug |

I think you are right about that, Doug. For me, the best thing is that the added rules don't really make it any more complicated than your average GW offering. Just a shame they didn't get rid of the box lid mechanic… I didn't know the Eldar were characterised as pirates in BFG. That's interesting as that is how I always saw them from reading Rogue Trader. Didn't expect that to be the case in BFG as well. Don't even get me started on glorious plans. I'm just hoping my enthusiasm in blogging about SF will lead to something more substantial! Haha Interesting about the spores. I didn't know that! |

What's odd to me is that they had a pretty limited range of Eldar models for BFG as well. |

I didn't know the Eldar were characterised as pirates in BFG. I may have confused that with the description of the Eldar ships in Doom of the Eldar, supposedly racing back to help defend the Craftworld. After all, it was the inspiration for some of my ideas for BFG. Not the first time I got lost in one of my fevered dreams… ;->= EM, I always got the feeling it was viewed as Imperial vs Chaos, and everybody else added after, though I think even Ork did better. In SpaceFleet, it was 'we've already done Eldar, time to add everybody else, though we love oure imperials.' Along with 'well, now we've shown who loves 'nids…' Doug |

Doom of the Eldar was a fun game. I always enjoyed their boardgame series. Would be good to use them as the basis for a campaign sometime. But I digress. |

Not sure Eldar classified as pirates in BFG….they got a battle wagon, 2 types of heavy cruisers, and 2 models of light cruisers on top of escorts. Seems like a major fleet to me. |

Hah. Just realised that was a different Doom of the Eldar. :( |

BFG specifically describes the regular Eldar fleets as pirates, corsairs, or raiders. The craft world Eldar are a separate fleet, although they sometimes ally, of course. |

"Space Fleet" Man talk about a step into the way back machine. LOL I had totally forgot about that cover. I sold off my Emp. Cruisers long ago, but regret I didnt replace them when I could. I have a 'good' collection of the Chaos that Im hanging on too. Always love the 'plastic' models.
Now, not to be rude, if it works for them or you, great. But.. Whats with the "Toss a Cross", tic-tac-toe lid? I guess if you want "ultra simple?", just 'toss' in a die, stone, chip (whatever your gaming with) for each weapon firing and where you land is what you get. Hmmm, could be worse. |

It's called 'eBay.' ;->= I'm getting rather old; I assume my few will be there pretty soon by my daughter. Doug |
