Our club recently played a game based on an encounter battle prior to the fall of Vienna in 1805. We are familiarising ourselves with the units to be used in our next big battle in 2017 which in this case will be The Big One: Austerlitz!

The battlefield itself is just a narrow shelf of river bank on the north side of the Danube. The hills above the shelf are steeper than 45 degrees and fully covered with narrow vine terraces. Quite extraordinary place to fight a battle, makes the Pass at Thermopylae look like a foot ball field. |
