Ever found yourself in this situation? You find something you don't actually need that's so cheap you can't stop yourself from buying it? link I might get around to using them as peasant levy in my 1/72 fantasy. |

There was an article in an old old old issue of The Dragon on using these figures for D&D troop / adventurer types. The running archers with the pointy hoods were recommended for Wood Elves – and I can't help but see them as such whenever I look at them now. There's a cleric in the set as well…. |

The Robin Hood set is without a doubt one of the most versatile sets of all time. Can be used as Ancients, Medievals. Archers, Engineers, Catapult crew. Hussite War Wagon crew. Slingers(guy with the long sword makes the best slinger ever, cut away sword and tie a piece of thread to his hand, his left hand looks like he his holding rocks in his tunic fabric), also as Civilian farmers. Weapons are easily cut away. You can attach shields and spears. I have used 20-25 boxes for various things over the years. I keep the various box covers, lol Great set! |

The Robin Hood figures do not hold paint well. I'd suggest you either coat them in PVA glue or, better, dip them in estapol before undercoating & painting. |

Thanks for the suggestions and painting advice. I reckon they will make fine skirmishers for my 1/72 fantasy….when I eventually get to them. |

Krylon (IIRC) sells an undercoat paint that bonds with plastic, pretty much eliminating the paint flaking off. I've used plastic figures for many years (about 50, actually), and have never had that much of a problem anyway. Metal figures are supposed to be so much better, but aside from the much greater cost, the risks involved with them include bayonets and swords breaking off. Sometimes a figure will snap off at the ankles if it has been bent too often. Nothing is perfect… Chris J. |
