Hi, I am looking at getting back into the period, my previous foray was Warhammer Ancient Battles (Chivalry book), I know I am looking at pitched battles as opposed to a skirmish, but beyond that I am undecided.
on't know if it is relevant but the armies I have are for the Northern Crusades.

Thanks
Jon

Deus Vult from Fireforge.

Vows of Iron was just recently released. Good, fast moving game.

Day of Battle is another that has a roleplay element to it. Great for long campaigns where you want to develop your leader.

I use Lion Rampant for skirmishes and Hail Caesar for pitched battles thumbs up

I game the Northern Crusades too – I tend to use Lion Rampant for big skirmishes, Sword and Spear for bigger bashes. Day of Battle, mentioned above, is very interesting, unfortunately it requires a bit more investment on the part of the players for me to have been able to get my clubmates to give it a proper go.

Saga for Skirmish and Flower of Chivalry for mass battles.

Another +1 for Vows of Iron.

I switched from WAB to Impetus, I find it works very well, large battles done in two hours, and a WAB army rebases easily

cheers

Impetus for me too. But Soldiers of God and Deus Vult are written particularly for this era.

Our group plays Armati 2. If you are looking for pitched battles this works very well for that.

Bear Yourselves Valiantly works well with the medieval period. I also use Band of Brothers by Piquet.
