We are in the final 36 hours of the campaign. This is perhaps the most complex campaign they've run. So what it's for? A fully modular castle. Floor by floor. And it is compatible with the City System from the last campaign. With all the Add-ons and Pre-configured pledges you can get pretty much just what you want. Of course it's never enough. This is not a cheap KS. Right now the average pledge is just under $1,000. USD You can get a small wizards tower or a honking big Lords Castle and pretty much everything in between. Kickstarter link here: link Here are some pics of what they have cooking at DF:
This is a pre-configured pledge. What you see is what you get. No stretch goals, but you can buy add-ons. This is the Sorcerer's Sanctum

Oops, posted before I was finished. There are 67 add-ons you can buy to customize the castle just how you want: link Here are some pics of the setups they built with the prototypes. Keep in mind the that the prototypes don't fit as well as the cast pieces in the production run.
You can do some pretty cool stuff with DF. I have the KS1 and KS2 tiles. They are tons of fun. Like Legos for wargamers. And in full disclosure, I am a backer for this KS, but not sure if I will stay in till the end. I already have the Warhammer Castle. If I do pull out of this KS I will take the same money and buy sets from the City Builder Sets which I missed last year. Xin/Jeff |

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I found some pics that explain how the castle system works. And how you can customize it for your own needs. Not clear from these pics are magnets in the walls and various pieces that lock them altogether. DF is going big on Magnets and LED lights.

It's neat, but it's both too rich and too fiddly for me. Disclosure: I have more DF sets than is sane. |

I'm with Darth. Wonderful stuff but I have so many tupperware style tubs of it already that it finally sunk in that I better stop since you can't decorate the after life with it. |

A thousand here and a thousand there and pretty soon you are talking about real money. I use to tease the Ex by asking if she would mind if I spent three grand on a brass model locomotive which got me some wide-eyed looks that were entertaining. The current Almost Ex would have my guts for garters if I mentioned a desire to sign on to this KS. Lovely stuff but way over the top. I will never forgive my parents for not being filthy rich or myself for only winning $3.00 USD from the Lottery. The Almost Ex has never forgiven me for not being filthy rich either. Still, we are truly in a "Golden Age" in our hobby. |

This would be a decent value, given the love I have for fortifications, but I already have a large Mage Knight collection, several of both types of GW Mighty Fortresses, several Minas Tirith sets, 2 Helm's Deeps, and a large MBA castle collection. I could probably sell all that and buy enough DF pieces to replicate most for about half the cost. |

I like all the add ons that have showed up since the announcement. Going back to my initial post comparing this to MBA and others it still doesn't look like it's any better of a bargain. I guess it comes down to what you want in your castle. I'm surprised at how well this one has done. I wish them nothing but continued success as they do a great job with KS and have always been responsive when I've had questions. |

Final 24 hours now, about to crack a Million.5. There are some awful pretty builds to look at there. I really like the one that is built into the cliffs. |

Some of that looks pretty amazing, but I dislike all of the mismatched seams in inappropriate places. I guess that's the price for modularity, and imagine they could be filled, but I'll have to stick to making one out of foam, eventually, since even small castles aren't in my budget. |

The castles in the photos are prototypes. The final product will be much more refined. They has the mismatch thing with the caverns and city too. What's really cool about those builds is they have interiors. Walls, towers, caves under the mountains if you have the cave set. |
wolfie907 | 30 Mar 2016 2:24 a.m. PST |
They will be just as mismatched just as the sets you gave an example of are the scale is not even consistent between sets the finished piece is going to look the same |
snurl1 | 30 Mar 2016 2:52 a.m. PST |
The scale has always been 1"=10', per Dwarven Forge. The city prototypes were mismatched too, not so with the finished pieces. There is a thread on the DF forums that addresses perceived scale differences, which are less than half a millimeter. |

Wow I can't believe they cracked 1.5 mil. Some people are dropping crazy money on this. Mako, Wolfie, the seems will get better with the production run, as these are hand cast prototypes. Not the steel mold production ones. That said, yes you will still have seams. Despite pimping this product, I pulled out. I will take my pledge money and spend it in their online store to get some city builder stuff I missed last year. |

I'm fascinated by the business side of this hobby 1.5 million bucks raised – there is some serious cash out there 61 people putting in $2,000. USD It makes you understand why Games Workshop charges the prices they do It's a great looking product John |

1,781,736 bucks total. And that isn't counting what will be added in the Pledge Manager. Seems successful to me. |
