I'm setting up Mars-la-Tour for this coming Thursday and it taxed my French army collection. I ran out of line infantry and had to add in others, ACW Zouaves (though using tricolor flags) and Gardes Mobiles. As I never purchased Imperial Guards, the remaining Mobiles stood in for them. I have 6 bases of Mobiles that didn't get used. Each figure represents about 500 troops. |

Heresy. Report yourself for reeducation immediately. |

Just don't make a habit out of it. At least you had the decency to confine it to the privacy of your own home/club. |

Proxies don't bother me, especially if they're close enough. The play's the thing! |

We've used Austrian artillery for French in a pinch. I agree with Mhoxie, it's the game that counts. Accuracy is great if you can do it, otherwise; Don't sweat the small stuff. |

I think everything I use counts as "close enough." |

Having used Napoleonic French as Mexican regulars for the Alamo, I forgive you |

Better to use the wrong figures for the right game, than to have a perfectly historically accurate army but get the battle wrong! Chris Bloody Big BATTLES! link bloodybigbattles.blogspot.fr |

The performance of chocolate Boxes Illustration Imperial Guard of 1870 was so poor that the use of poor unsmart mobiles is totally justified |

At least your proxies are from the same army :) We played BBB Solferino last night – I was short 8 bases of Austrian Infantry so I had to use French Line infantry as proxies. As Austrian Infantry got killed I replaced the "turncoats" |

The battle of Solferino? I hope you took pictures and intend to post an AAR! Don't you know the last part of the turn sequence is "take pictures"? |

In Flames of War, Good Guy engineers wear khaki or brown suits and green hats. A 6pdr is close enough to a 57mm AT gun. And all SidKaFizzes look the same to me. All Bofors 40mm AA gunners wear khaki shorts, no matter what army they belong to. I do draw the line at using a T-Rex as a proxy for a scythed chariot. Nope. Can't get away with that, even if you did bring beer. |

And in a pinch, Dervishes may be drafted into the Abyssinian army. |

Wait till you see what I do for the Cinco de Mayo. I don't have any Mexican troops painted. |

I've used substitutions that would make the average gamer pale. |

I have a revolver for each of you heretics. I think that you know what you have to do. |

If you had a T Rex pulling the chariot, why would you need scythes ? |

Yeah but if they brought the beer there is allot of room for forgiveness. |

I'm pretty sure "Bronze Age T-Rex Chariots" is the next Osprey due out. |
