After weeks of work, the 1/600 models of USS Pawnee and CSS/USS Calhoun are ready for the tabletop! In addition, a number of other models are closer to being tabletop ready.

I've just managed to "complete" my 1/600 ACW collection (again), some of those models look very familiar :)

Maybe because I just realized that I've posted the link to an old entry?

Great inspiration. Which guns are you using for the Miami and Susquehanna? I have the Conemaugh, Miami and Susquehanna left to assemble and I'm not sure which guns to order. When I ordered those ships from Bay Area Yards I didn't think to order the guns and now I'm not sure which ones to use. Also, how did you clean out the gun ports? I'm finding that the resin hulls from BAY have the gun ports sealed up.

I use a Dremel tool to clean up gunports. If you don't have one your life is meaningless and incomplete. Plus it is really sueful.

You're right about dremel tools; I love my dremel tool. However, gun port are square and I haven't figured out how to drill a square hole. 😉 I hate drilling gun ports almost as much as I hate rigging.

I finish the square with a triangular file. I guess I should have mentioned that.

Great minds think alike. I also use a triangular file to sharpen up the edges of the gunports.

And a Dremel(tm) should be in your tool kit.

Guns – are a mix of my old (old, old) stock of Thoroughbred guns before they were dropped from the product list and guns from Bay Area Yards.

You can order the gun sprues from Bay Area Yards – a mix of pivots and IX" fills most of the bill and will cover Miami Conemaugh and Susquehanna nicely.

GN-003 Dahlgren's on Marsilly for the broadside guns
GN-004 Dahlgren on truck carriage (4 guns) and Dahlgren on pivot mount (6 guns)
Maybe GN-008 if you need an assortment of 32# guns
