Most WWII wargamers have miniature armies representing the major powers (Germany, Japan, USSR, UK, and the USA, along with France and Italy). Which, if any, of the following'minor/other nations' do you have? (a) Australia (b) Bulgaria (c) Canada (d) China (e) Denmark (f) Ethiopia (g) Finland (h) Greece (i) Hungary (j) Netherlands (k) New Zealand (l) Norway (m) Poland (n) Romania (o) __________________ (other) |

How is China a minor nation? It was battling Japan all by itself for years. In addition to having the largest population of those listed. |

None, trying to keep up with the main four (Britain, America, Germany, Soviet Union) is enough especially if you are doing more than one theater. At some point I will add Italians for my North Africa games and start on US Marines and Japanese for the South Pacific. There are just some many small theaters you could get mired in such as Burma which holds an interest and I have always wanted to do Crete with the Fallschirmjagers against the ANZACS. Another area I would some day like to collect and play would be The Winter War with the Fins against the Soviets. |

Zero. I do have some Italian aircraft and vessels, and consider them to be a "minor" nation in WWII, but no troops or armor. Same goes for the French, who I also consider to have played a "minor" role in WWII, since they were rolled so quickly by the Nazis – I have a few of their vessels. |

If I did WW2 I would want US Army in the PTO. Carried a lot of the burden, I come from the "Are you nuts?" part of a ex-USMC extended family (USMC had a great propaganda group in WW2 IMO, ) and my father-in-law (RIP) was US Army in the PTO. THW has a great set of rules for the WW2 PTO that I would use. Nobody sane can play the Japanese of the war but the rules make an excellent Japanese "player." Not sure if I would find adequate miniatures in 15/6/3mm though. About the only minor power that would attract me is… None? |

WW2 in 20mm. Australia for Pacific, Hungary for eastern front Poland for 1939 Hungary was the most fun to put together. I also have German (mostly ground pounders, and NO tigers) British. Soviet Naval Infantry. Italy (North Africa mostly). |

Using the exact same figures I have now, my 8th Army Brits can be Australian or New Zealand. Even Indian. Only Sikhs would have the turban. Muslim or Hindu troops would wear the tin hat. My Late War British can be Canadian or Poles. My Americans can be Free French. We are fighting a campaign now where Italians proxy very accurately for Greeks. I did have Finns but sold them to a friend in the group. And another guy has Rumanians. So I guess we can cover a lot of bases here. |

@PictorsStudio … Note that the question is phrased "Minor/Other" … the "Other" part of the question covers the BIG major powers like China that are not often found on wargame tables. |
