Yes, I enjoy fly fishing.

PzGeneral26 Mar 2016 10:15 a.m. PST

No…my Dad and my middle brother are outdoorsmen, me and Mrwigglesworth aren't. Living on Lake Erie Dad took me out on occation
Walleye fish…not my thing. He did buy me a 'banana flip' at a bait shop about 45 years ago….my favorite fishing trip memory…..

MajorB26 Mar 2016 10:17 a.m. PST

Fishing for what?

Personal logo BAMeyer Sponsoring Member of TMP26 Mar 2016 10:21 a.m. PST

Did you mean to write phishing?

Pictors Studio26 Mar 2016 10:25 a.m. PST

No. I found out you can buy fish at the store.

Timmo uk26 Mar 2016 10:26 a.m. PST

Yes – I've just renewed it for the coming season.

Who asked this joker26 Mar 2016 10:30 a.m. PST

Not a fisherman.

joeltks26 Mar 2016 10:31 a.m. PST

Yep. Usually wind up with a couple of states worth each year.

Cyrus the Great26 Mar 2016 10:34 a.m. PST

No.

Cosmic Reset26 Mar 2016 10:35 a.m. PST

Yes, from 1978.

Weasel26 Mar 2016 10:35 a.m. PST

No, can't stand fishing.

bc174526 Mar 2016 11:15 a.m. PST

Didn't realise I needed one to go to the fishmonger……

Oh week you live and learn…..

Will take the fish fingers back on Monday…

Grelber26 Mar 2016 11:19 a.m. PST

No, I have the patience for a great many things, but sitting and waiting for a fish to bite on my line isn't one of them.

My wife loves fish and got a bright idea we would go catch them instead of buying them from the store. The price for the fishing permits was outrageous so we forgot that idea.

My Brother-In-Law has a fish pond in his Japanese garden stocked with Khoi(Sp?) which are essentially big Carp or overgrown goldfish. Except they cost hundreds of dollars each depending on size. So we go up for a visit and he is showing the wife and I the garden and the fish pond when she gets all excited seeing big fish swimming about. "Oh, I would eat that one!" she exclaims and I thought the man would faint.

Fly Fishing is much like the Zen of painting.
Process vs Result. There is value in both.

Brownbear26 Mar 2016 12:00 p.m. PST

do I need one for wargaming?

dampfpanzerwagon Fezian26 Mar 2016 12:07 p.m. PST

Not at this moment but in the past yes.

You need a licence to fish!!!???

I've never been into fishing myself. Was at school with a couple of lads who used to go fishing a lot. Neither of them had a licence…

Chris Wimbrow26 Mar 2016 12:36 p.m. PST

I had one when I was much younger, but I never had to take it out of my wallet. Now I fantasize about having a boat on the lake and having an authority officer trying to search for anything related to fishing. I gave it up after never wanting to eat anything I caught.

Ed Mohrmann Supporting Member of TMP26 Mar 2016 1:01 p.m. PST

I don't, but I have a gamer friend who is just into
fly fishing so I suppose he has one…

Mike Target26 Mar 2016 1:14 p.m. PST

It still astonishes me that you need a licence to fish…its like a licence to watch telly or the old radio licences…so 19th century!

Personal logo Herkybird Supporting Member of TMP26 Mar 2016 1:36 p.m. PST

Fishing is a hobby enjoyed by many, though not by me!

rampantlion26 Mar 2016 1:58 p.m. PST

I did every year since I was 18 until the last couple of years.

evilgong26 Mar 2016 2:23 p.m. PST

Yes

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut26 Mar 2016 2:25 p.m. PST

No. Fishing requires going Outside, and Outside is where the Apocalypse happens.

Waco Joe26 Mar 2016 2:26 p.m. PST

Fishing is great. A shady tree, cooler of beer, nice breeze and a lawn chair. Oh and don' forget the most important part. Don't bait the hook. grin

arthur181526 Mar 2016 2:47 p.m. PST

No – if I want fish I'll visit a store!

platypus01au26 Mar 2016 2:57 p.m. PST

Certainly do.

Mako1126 Mar 2016 3:38 p.m. PST

Not currently, but frequently do.

Prices for fishing licenses here, like many other licenses, have been made rather exorbitant by the governmental authorities.

TiberiusAugustus26 Mar 2016 3:51 p.m. PST

Yes, luckily for me most states give military nice discounts on fishing license.

William Warner26 Mar 2016 4:07 p.m. PST

Yes, ever since the grand children were old enough to go. Now if I can just get them to bait their own hooks…

Glengarry526 Mar 2016 5:27 p.m. PST

No! Leave the fish alone! What did they ever do to you?

Kevin C26 Mar 2016 6:12 p.m. PST

Absolutely not. Most of my family loved fishing when I was growing up, but it was incredibly boring to me. While the rest of the family fished, I usually just shot cottonmouths whenever they raised their heads up. When I ran out of cottonmouths, I just shot my brothers' bobbers to bring the fishing to an end, so that we could go home.

Skeets Supporting Member of TMP26 Mar 2016 6:30 p.m. PST

No as most of my fishing is deep sea fishing-no license required.

Larry R26 Mar 2016 6:51 p.m. PST

Yes and love to fish from my kayak

The Beast Rampant26 Mar 2016 7:20 p.m. PST

Not anymore. I used to go to local lakes and rivers with my buddy or my father all the time; but one moved off and the other passed away. For the past ten years, I have only occasionally fished in the pond on my in-laws' land.

Years back, when I worked at my dad's sporting good store, I sold hundreds of fishing (and hunting) licenses.

boy wundyr x26 Mar 2016 8:18 p.m. PST

Yes.

@Mike Target – fishing licenses (a) pay for fish and wildlife conservation and (b) facilitate enforcement.

Personal logo javelin98 Supporting Member of TMP26 Mar 2016 8:48 p.m. PST

I got a license for my pet fish, Eric. He's an 'alibut.

Greylegion26 Mar 2016 9:56 p.m. PST

Yes and just went fishing this morning.

Early morning writer26 Mar 2016 11:13 p.m. PST

Proper fishing does not require a license. A pole? Yes. A tackle box? Sure. A hook? Optional. A good book? A necessity.

Kick back, read the book – and when someone comes by and asks, say, "Quiet, you'll disturb the fish" and then glance at your pole and return to your book.

The tackle box has lunch in it, by the way.

Rudysnelson26 Mar 2016 11:30 p.m. PST

No

Mako1127 Mar 2016 12:03 a.m. PST

Tell that to the park ranger, as they arrest you, and seize your vehicle to put up for auction, in the P.R.C..

Personal logo ochoin Supporting Member of TMP27 Mar 2016 1:55 a.m. PST

Some pals & I often spear fish on The Great Barrier Reef.

Sharks you say? Sure but I have a rule.
Keep your friends close and your anemones closer.

Mithmee27 Mar 2016 7:31 a.m. PST

No, and the reason is I really do not like eating fish.

David Manley27 Mar 2016 8:17 a.m. PST

No, however I have run Cod War participation games at a number of wargamers shows in the UK over the last 20 years or so.

B6GOBOS27 Mar 2016 8:24 a.m. PST

Ice fishing. Just one more step on the road to alcoholism. 🍺

Regards27 Mar 2016 9:30 a.m. PST

No sir. Never fished at all.
