Hello all!

I have returned after a short hiatus from blogging with some new goodies to look at, the first of which is this lovely Churchill tank from Warlord Games in 28mm. It has been completed in Soviet colours as a Lend Lease vehicle, with winter white-wash.

Come take a look:

Nice tank!

Love the weathering

Were Lend Lease tanks painted in Soviet colors, or standard factory finish?
Don't take this as criticism, because I like the work.

Fantastic job, looks like it's been at the front for some time :-)

I've seen photos of Shermans in Soviet garb, but I dunno if it was universal.

I hate to say this as you have done a great job on the painting but the Russians were only sent Mk III and Mk IV Churchills. There were only enough of these to supply the British army with one per troop .

I think they got a few Mk I and II as well but certainly none of the 75mm versions.

Great looking tank!!!

Only after reading the text on that site did I realize that its supposedly painted white -- low light makes it look yellow, so I thought it was in desert cammo.

From what I've read, the Soviets didn't waste time or paint repainting Lend-Lease tanks, which came in some shade of dark green anyway. But, yes, they certainly might have white-washed them in winter.

from what I have seen, Donlowry is correct. Lend lease equipment was not repainted. The best they get is some red stars and patriotic slogans so friendlies don't mistake them as facist vehicles.
