Were any units at Gettysburg actually wearing Zouave or Chasseur Uniforms? I know that units like the 140th NY were actually wearing ordinary uniforms. I have also seen some question about whether or not the 14th Brooklyn was.

The 14th Brooklyn, from my readings, received their uniform issues directly from Brooklyn, for the entire period of service.

The 14th Brooklyn wore their Chasseur uniform for their entire service.

The 146th NY just received their uniforms that summer and had them at Gettysburg. The 140th NY did not.

The 114th PA had their Zouave uniforms for their entire service. Their first combat was Fredericksburg I think. They had them at Gettysburg.

Those three are the only regiments that had "full" Zouave or Chasseur uniforms at Gettysburg.

Some units had partial. The 73rd NY may have had some of their members still with their Chasseur jackets, and possibly some fezzes. There are existing photos of the unit with both. Whether they still had them full, or partial at Gettysburg is still up in the air. At least in my research. It was important enough that the veterans used a model in their Chasseur uniform for their monument at Gettysburg.

The 72nd and 95th PA had a stylized jacket.

The 109th PA had a Chasseur jacket trimmed with a red, white, and blue braid.

Its possible, but not likely, that the 23rd PA may have had some jackets left.

That's all I can think of on the spur of the moment.

Did any Confederate units have zouave uniforms at Gettyeburg?

No rebs in zouave dress. Tho i have 2 stands worth in the 1st Maryland, just as a nod to the 1st battalions roots.

According to Coates, only one company of the 73rd NY had their Chasseur jackets. The rest of the regiment had the ordinary Union uniforms.

The 83rd PA had a unique uniform but by Gettysburg, many had been replaced by standard issue
