Do you consider yourself a collector of Napoleonic-period wargaming rulesets? |
nsolomon99 | 23 Mar 2016 3:57 p.m. PST |
Absolutely. One of the basic tenets of Napoleonic Wargaming is it is impossible to have too many sets of Rules in one's Library. |

No General D Brigade second edition? |

John Miller | 23 Mar 2016 6:49 p.m. PST |
No. Played quite a few different ones at conventions but found one I liked and stuck to it. |
Allen57 | 23 Mar 2016 7:18 p.m. PST |
No. I have around 6 sets bought over a 20 year period. Never really found one I like a lot. Gave up on Napoleonics. |
Extra Crispy | 23 Mar 2016 7:18 p.m. PST |
@Dragon6 I like trying different rule sets. Sort of like trying different foods. And the rules I choose depend on the kind of game I want. That said my overall favorite are Grande Armee (liked 'em so much I bought the rights). Black Powder is fun and I like the 5th edition of In the Name of Glory. Then for more tactical games General de Brigade. |

Mark (Extra Crispy) listed 153 rule sets, if anyone's curious. - Ix |

Extra Crispy should post his mailing address so that we can send him all our unwanted rules, he's made a good start to cornering the world's 2nd hand market. David F Brown |

Absolutely a horde of Napoleonic rule sets. Thinking about it, I horde rule sets of all periods including those I'm not even gaming. Erik |

Why do you need more than one naval and one land ruleset? The one's I like are the only ones that make sense. |
rmaker | 24 Mar 2016 10:16 a.m. PST |
While not in the league of some of you gentlemen, I do own quite a few sets. Why do you need more than one naval and one land ruleset? The one's I like are the only ones that make sense.
Because there might be something you can borrow. "So plagiarize. But always call it research!" – Tom Lehrer |

Why do you need more than one naval and one land ruleset? The one's I like are the only ones that make sense. You need at least three sets for land gaming: skirmish level, grand tactical level, and operational level. You might be able to get away with only two sets for Napoleonic naval, "tactical" and "fleet" level. Those seem to be the only real representational scale distinctions in AoS gaming. Personally I need about a 3-4 rule sets for every period, because each group of players plays with a different set, and then there's the set I prefer. - Ix |

A mere dilettante I. Only buy a very few that I might enjoy. 6 perhaps in the library. |

I want Editor Bill to require all of you rules collectors to cough up, like Bill the Cat, no comparison, the perfect set of Napoleonic wargame rules within 48 hours. I deserve to have a copy. I know for a fact that you keep them hidden among your horde of wargame rules. It is my right under all the new life changing legislation that guarantees my personal wants. Oops I dropped my IPhone. I also demand a new IPhone. Oops I ran out of toner for my computer. I demand new toner as well. Thank you. You are lucky I said thank you. In fact, I take it back. |
Trajanus | 27 Mar 2016 3:47 a.m. PST |
Does buying loads and then throwing them away in disappointment count as "collecting"? |
Mithmee | 27 Mar 2016 7:36 a.m. PST |
Well Trajanus that almost counts. |
MichaelCollinsHimself | 27 Mar 2016 12:58 p.m. PST |

MarescialloDiCampo | 29 Mar 2016 12:23 p.m. PST |
Many other period other period rule sets have gone, but for some perverse reason I have a box full of Napoleonic ones… |
138SquadronRAF | 29 Mar 2016 1:18 p.m. PST |
No. I've currently only four sets of rules (WRG 1685-1845, WRG Corp d'Armee, Napoleonic Command and Et Sans Resultat!). Only Napoleonic Command gets played regularly and I regard myself as a Napoleonic gamer… |
jwebster | 29 Mar 2016 10:51 p.m. PST |
I can't afford to buy lots of sets of rules. If I could I would, but probably never play the majority. I have been forming strong opinions about what a set of Napoleonic rules should do and I am not sure that this matches anything on the market. I see that everyone gets excited when a new set of rules comes out, and then it goes quiet until the next one :) John |
