Squadron Strike: Traveller is a very promising board game project for it brings 3D movement into the world of board gaming. Authors of the game show the altitude of each ship with colored tiles. It may be positive or negative and bring new maneuvers and strategies to the game. There are also tilt blocks and stiffeners inside the ship boxes that help your spaceships to tack…"

A little late now, since the Kickstarter is over …

The stiffeners are a purely optional add-on. I've used the box miniatures without them for many years with no problem. Of course, others find them a delight, or simply essential.

In my experience with space games (and it is extensive) adding the third dimensions is very rarely ever worth the effort.

In my limited experience I would say that 3d is enough of a game changer that its worth it. At least in the case of Ad Astra games since ship just simple don't move straight up/down
but roll and pivot which change firing arcs which are also in 3d.


P.S does any one have any examples of how other games tried to do 3d space movement?
