Can anyone get me the dimensions (HxWxL) of the sponsons for leman russ or predator tanks? I am trying to recreate the m3 lee leman russ conversion in the linked pic and I need to know the sponson dimensions to know what scale m3 lee to use.

The M3 Lee in the pic has to be in 1/35 scale. I'm 99.99% sure. |

Lol Sorry guys the tank picturedi is not mine, I just want to try to copy it cause it looks so damn cool. Hell I haven't even played a game of 40k in 16 years. @28mm Fanatic, thanks, I will start shopping around for that scale m3! I am still interested in actual sponson dimensions if anybody has them. |

1/35 would be almost twice as large as 40k scale. If that's a normal-sized Las cannon, I don't think it would fit like that. |

40K tanks do not have a scale but are oversized compared to 1/48 vehicles. Many people convert 40K vehicles using 1/35 scale kits because they look close enough in size. Tamiya did release some WWII vehicles in 1/48 but the M3 Grant/Lee wasn't one of them, which is why I am so certain that the one in the pic is 1/35. |

I guess it could be the old Monogram 1/32 scale kit too. But judging from the proportions of the gun to the turret diameter, I'm with 28mm Fanatic on the 1/35 v. 1/48 scale. Nice conversion either way. |

After looking at the picture I am wondering if it might be this kit link |

The M3 Lee in the pic has to be in 1/35 scale. I have found that 1/35 scale is the best scale for 40K. |

Yeah, most 40k vehicles have 1/35 guns on chassis that are close to 1/35. A Basilisk SP arty gun is the same size as a 1/35 M109. |

Having used a 1/35 scale M3 as the basis for an Ork battlewagon, I can confirm that 1/35 scale is pretty darn close to the size of a Leman Russ, and given the sheer vastness of the Empire, there's going to be a great deal of interpretations and iterations of the venerable Leman Russ. Currently there is even a simplified fast build kit of the M3 Lee commonly available at Michael's that will save you time and if you have one of the coupons Michael's periodically issues at very good price. When I get to my desktop I'll post photos of the Ork battle wagon I built for a pal out in New York to give you a better sense of the actual size of the model versus the WH40K plastic Ork bits… Leland R. Looking at that model, it's got the current-generation Predator autocannon in the 75mm mount, multilasers from a couple Sentinels on the sides, and a (OOP) Forgeworld Conqueror cannon in the turret, with the sensor head of a Chaos Defiler on top. |

OK. As promised, that Ork battlewagon based on a 1/35 scale M3 kit:
The M3 is an excellent basis for either an Ork battlewagon or a Leman Russ conversion IMHO. There are some relatively inexpensive 1/32 scale fast-build versions available from New Ray as I mentioned. Being fast build format they obviously take far less time to assemble than a dedicated scale model kit: auction

So the question now is would the sponsons line up even with the hull of the 1/32 or the 1/35 kits? In the original conversion pic a big chunk of the appeal was how the sponsons looked like they were part of the m3 design due to how the top and bottom of the sponsons lined up on the m3 hull. |
Lion in the Stars | 28 Mar 2016 4:12 p.m. PST |
If they don't quite line up, a little plasticard shimming is dead easy. |

Well I bought one of those m3 lee kits that look like its from new Ray, but it's 1/35 scale not 1/32 and it is by testors instead of new ray. So now I just go to get my hands on some leman russ sponsons. I had planned to buy them through hoard o bits but they are out of stock. Anyone got any ideas where I can get some? |
