We want to produce AVID Stress Ball Play Aids.

Sounds confusing, huh?

The AVID is the play aid at the core of the Squadron Strike system and as part of the Squadron Strike: Traveller Kickstarter, we've add a 3D version of the AVID as a stretch goal. Yep. They're printed stress balls. (If you want to learn a bit about the AVID, go to the Squadron Strike page and scroll down.)

That may sound like a novelty, but Ken Burnside has a hand-colored version that he takes to conventions. It makes it much easier to understand--or teach!--the AVID. Everybody who sees it says, "Oh, wow, you should have one of those in every box!"

Here's Ken showing off his hand-made prototype in a little video.

So, please, hop over to the Kickstarter and help us reach the stress goal … err, the stretch goal. Only two days left!

Two rings linked together in with the port/starboard for/aft top/bottom symbols on them might help as well. squeeze the ball then move the rings so the symbols are oriented where you want them

Yeah, somebody built something like that.

This is mostly a teaching aid, though. "This is what that represents." (2D sphere seen as a flat play aid.)

@Fabe -- one of the options on the BackerKit will be rings like you described. I need to find a better way to have them made; my original prototypes were too fragile.

How about making them out of the same stuff used to make those rubbery bracelets people wear to show support for various causes(cancer research ,support the troops etc)? that way the rings can flex with the ball without having to worry about them snapping.
