No great surprise, with the British recently released, that the Perrys have followed up with the French units.

Alan Perry writes "Although not Napoleonic as such, I've included this range under the ‘Napoleonic banner'. The idea with this range is to start at the end and then maybe go backwards, we'll see. The main aim for the first releases is to cover the Kleber ordnance which came into use in 1799. These were multi-coloured woolen uniforms made in Egypt from what resources they had. This is the uniform that they fought the British in 1801. These can also be painted for the Syrian campaign of 1799 where they wore a blue linen version of the same cut.

I'd like to thank Hans-Karl Weiss for his generous help on details and Yves Martin on his timely help on the uniform colours. The colours shown on the painted examples are down to Yves amazing research that uncovered (literally, in the French archives) swatches of cloth from the Army of Egypt that had not seen the light of day for 200 years."

I'll leave it to Armand to show the pictures. I have the advantage of the time difference, that I can be posting this whilst he sleeps blissfully unaware………..good morning Tango01….

Nice stuff addition for their 28mm range. Painted my Armee d'Orient last decade with the Dixon 25mm range. Perry I am sure will due the period justice with their excellent sculpts and detail.

Recently did the Battle of Aboukir 1799 on the tabletop to join several other napoleonic (republican) Egyptian battles. Battle historically was fought before the arrival of the French circus of color but I didn't have the "mid period" Egyptian uniform painted, so I used the Kleber uniformed miniatures. Hey… got to compete with the Ottoman circus of color somehow.

And no great surprise as they've been on the Perry webpage workbench for almost 2 months.

Any additional Napoleonic or related subject always greatly received from PM. Whilst there are some later period additions I'm hoping for, I love the energy and research PM put into each new subject.

More fantastic work from the doyens of the hobby!

Good morning Armand

I am to my pit, it is night time here.

I love the rotation of the earth, me.

Better late than never for you to post.

I have not yet recovered. Yesterday was St Patrick's Day and our two younger lads reached their 21st Birthday as well. It was a "good day". I have been drinking water all day

Will Perry Miniatures also be producing Turkish and Egyptian opponents in this range?

Early, truly Egyptian, mamelukes? Now there is a thought.

Westfalia produces a lot of Ottoman style figures…Persians, Afghans and Wahabis (?)…..strikes me they might be similar to Turks? Confess I have no idea.
