I cant get a copy of Shipwreck but i want to find a game where i can play some scenarios like strike aircraft attacking ships etc. Can anyone suggest a set, Harpoon is probably too difficult even though I do own it.

If you've got Harpoon, just use it, and ignore all the special, super-detailed rules.

Just use detection percentages, to-hit values, etc..

I'll give it a go….

Surface Battle Group, perfect balance between the complexity of Harpoon and simplistic Shipwreck:

I second Surface Battle Group.

Third edition of Harpoon, the GDW print, is as simple as Shipwreck and will give a similar game result.

David Manley did a modern variant on GQ1. I believe the rules are on the yahoo 1-3000 list. Mal Wright also did a modern version of GQ1.

Manley also does Bulldogs Away! scaled for smaller ships, corvettes, FACs, but includes Krivaks and Perrys

I'll give a hearty third vote for SBG. Its got enough meat and potatoes to give an accurate feel for the genre yet is simple enough for quick play and for an individual commander to run a task force. It kind of GQ3 for modern warfare. Oh, and then there are the supplements. Check it out over at Wargames Vault.
