You may have seen photos of Queen Elizabeth II mounted and in Guards uniform. She is (or perhaps she has retired now, and I should say was) colonel-in-chief of the Grenadier Guards. In the late 1800s/early 1900s regiments in many European countries had royal colonels-in-chief, and many were female. It was a ceremonial arrangement: nobody expected the ladies to lead their regiments in the field (many male colonels-in-chief were well past their prime, and nobody expected them to take the field, either). A photo of a German princess in the uniform of her hussar regiment inspired the gentleman running this company to create a line of females in uniform. By the way, they are nice figures, and reasonably popular with VSF gamers. I wonder how difficult it would be to convert the Schutztruppen ladies to Canadians of Company A, 62nd St. Johns Fusiliers, a historical unit. Okay, so they were more a drill team than a combat unit, but still . . . Grelber

I think Eureka were going to produce women in slouch hats and military uniforms for VSF, but they don't seem to have made it into the catalog. |
