Which real-world sport would make the best miniatures game? |

Rugby Union seems like it might be a good choice… with two sides lined up, and its pretty strict offside rules, it should be fairly easy to abstract it. |

Corner Kick rules make for a pretty good game of soccer (football for heathen foreign types). |

Don't be silly it's obviously baseball. Reviresco makes some perfectly serviceable baseball miniatures. I mix those with Sherco Grand Slam Baseball-a board game played on a gridded board. Defensive players have to move to the ball to make plays. I've even made a simple replica of St. Louis' Sportsman's Park based on a painting from the 1946 World Series. It's fun, easy, and makes a good miniatures game. |

I'd say Rugby Union as well, but how would you work out the result of a scrum? Even the professionals seem perplexed at times. |

Subbuteo -Did football(soccer) rugby and cricket. No dice but still count as miniatures. |

Formula De uses miniatures. Plastic though. |

I think sailing, with a bloodsport 2000 and Formulae De twist. |

Rollerball, but sadly, no miniatures for them. You can get metal minis for Formula De. They're quite nice, and look great on the tracks. Would love to see a good, medieval tournament rules set for man to man, and multiple man vs. men combat, like they have for gladiators, but have yet to see anything that is fast-playing, interesting, or really workable, sadly. |

Another vote for Subbuteo (football/soccer). A member of my old wargaming club used to paint Subbuteo figures on commission. He was well paid for a quite easy paint job. Easy for wargamers that is. He still does, I guess, as Subbuteo has gained new popularity in some countries. |

Most boring SPI game ever had to be Scrimmage. It took ten minutes to run a play that had ten yards as the board size. OMAHA!!! |

Scrimmage has the distinction of being the lowest rated SPI game in the company's history. |

IMHO the best game is Footy (Soccer, Football, Futebol) using as McKinstry as said the rules CORNER KICK. Not that I am biased in any way. :-) I think Dr DeWitte has some good rules for NASCAR and Chariot Races. Baseball doesn't really work that well, neither does American Football. Wally Simon tried many variants. He did come up with a basketball/Football variant he called JARHU the game of death!!! which was pretty fun. Corner Kick could also be modified for Hockey I believe. SO #1 by far and away. CORNER KICK for Soccer, Football. By far and away the best. We will be running 2 games of Corner Kick on Saturday at Cold Wars. #2 DeWitte's Chariot Races #3 JAHRU the Game of Death!!! #4 Nascar races or Ork deathcar races. #5 Stan Johannsen's Road Rage races. |

Mark, If you think all sports games are boring, I challenge you to try Corner Kick. Nobody walked away saying that they were bored. It was high intensity to the very end. |

I am a fan of the motor racing game Formule De. The core set is based around Formula 1 Grand Prix but I've adapted it for endurance car racing (Le Mans, Daytona 24 hour) and others use it for Indycar racing games. You can get metal miniatures of the cars as well. |
