There seem to be lots of books on the various English, French, and Italian battles during the medieval and renaissance periods.

However, I'm not aware of any that cover the various battles, skirmishes, wars, and sieges that surely must have occurred in Germany, back in the day, from say 1300 – 1525, or so. That's my primary period of interest, due to the weapons and armor used, though I'd also consider the 1200s too, if there are substantial battles/wars either within Germany, or with Germans fighting against other European opponents.

I've got a decent understanding of the campaign by the HRE in Italy, during the renaissance, but less so about actions in Germany itself, or in other adjacent countries/territories.

Given all of the different regions in Germany, I suspect they surely must have had battles similar to the Baron's Wars, and/or the Wars of the Roses as well.

My German is a bit rusty (actually, very), so I'd prefer books, publications, and websites that are in English, if available. I'm especially interested in force sizes and compositions, battle and campaign details, castle/city sieges, etc., etc..

Anyone got any good recommendations for books, or on-line websites that address the above?

There is very little which I've found. Oman is one of the most detailed even though there are various flaws in his accounts and conclusions (though I think he deserves more credit for his efforts than is often the case). He covers Woerringen and the Marchfeld in the 13th century – I don't remember which others. The later two volume work has more coverage.

What about Hans Delbruck? I remember he at least covers Hussites in his medieval book, so close-ish; might be more in his renaissance book.

There are also some Ospreys on the subject, more on the warriors than the battles (i.e. MAA series rather than Campaign series), but if you can wait until Osprey cycles through their sales, the PDFs are reasonable enough.

Good luck on this one MAKO11… I've been searching for years… Unfortunately, there aren't many sources in English.

If there's any good ones in German, I'd be interested in those.

There's a good thesis on Worringen online – PDF link – if 1288's not too early.

Swampster, Oman may be useful for medieval Germany, but he's been the bane of my life for his rubbish about medieval Scotland!
