Today, after a 15 month search, I received two boxes of Zvezda 8034, Republican Roman infantry. It took a while, but I finally found them, and in my own backyard.
I got them from Tracks-n-Troops, with a website all in English with prices in Euros but located here in the Beautiful Czech Republic. Who woulda thunk it?

Now that gives me three boxes and I can finally get my Hail Caesar armies going. Or maybe I should just sell all three boxes on ebay and retire… huh?

Good for you! Those figures must be extremely rare.

I'm constantly surprised what goodies hide there, and disappointed when I fail in finding them again.

Yes, yes, 'be prepared to strike, er, buy, at all times!'

PS I figure the employer is ready for me to 'enter my golden years,' but I'm in no hurry. Now, if they start actually expecting me to WORK… ;->=

The most annoying thing is they are only rare because of Zvezda´s stupid business plan to focus on producing small sets for use with their own line of wargames.

Does anyone even play these games? No one I know of does, but perhaps they are all the rage in Russia.

So anytime you are counting on Zvezda to provide the troops, you better buy ´em when you can, because you never know if you will see their likes again!

Congrats Texas! Glad to hear you finally have them.

Chris you know how long it´s been since I was talking about Hail Caesar!

I am on the last box of those Frenchies you gave me btw. grin

Not really stupid. US and UK companies put the wants of Russians second because they aren't their primary market, and Russians put your interests second because you're not their primary market.

You could be the first in your area. The Art of Tactic mechanics look novel, and there are several threads here and on Board Game Geek. Be a trend setter!

I've got a couple of them, one I bought just for the figures (!!) the other I have every intention of playing….sometime…if I live long enough… wink

It does look pretty good to be honest : art-of-tactic.com/archives/916

I'm also tempted by the naval game : link

BUT – I agree, I wish they'd carried on making new figure sets as well, because the best Zvezda sculpts are the best there have ever been.

bilsonius31 Mar 2016 8:24 p.m. PST

Excellent sculpting, certainly, but some of their sets sadly reminded me of the old Communist-era Russian joke – "Glorious Soviet Microchip is Biggest in World!!"
