I get the impression things are going seriously wrong here. Every topic seems to have a series of "DELETED".

Is our poor editor facing an attack of Pearl Harbor (sic) proportions?

In all seriousness, could we hear more from him on every single site?. There is massive good will here, I suspect. Most of us are addicts.

Communication is everything. If a bunch of nutters is wrecking things, tell us……..

Looks like another spam attack.

It was another Troll attack from a member(s) that Bill probably dumped for not being able to play well with others, etc., … And it appears Bill & I were/are the targets of the "nutters"… again …

And yes, it appears a few nut cases are trying to "wreck" things … And IMO it is not only the Drive by trolls, but some of the more rude, mean spirited, etc., members here. That don't use the proper internet common curtesy, manners, respect, etc.

And hide behind the vail of the internet to say things they wouldn't say face to face … We are all pretty much "adults" here. At least age-wise.

But some don't act like it … And again, this is a site about playing toy soldiers … Not anything to be rude, derisive, vitriolic, abusive, degrading, demeaning, etc., over. It about toys for heavens sake ! Yes ?

It sounds more like recent US political debates, etc., … huh?

The Frothers like to pick on Legion 4. frown

This poster's IP traces to Brazil, so perhaps it was a certain Frothers who lives in Brazil (I forget his name).

He posted on several topics before I could Lock his account.

Please define "proper internet common curtesy, manners, respect, etc. ".

Well nothing wrong with a heated lively discussion. But not need to be rude, derisive, vitriolic, abusive, degrading, demeaning, degrading, divisive, mean spirited, bullying, etc. … I think you get the idea … I hope ?
If you wouldn't say it to someone face2face, you probably shouldn't say it on the net.

Winston Smith15 Mar 2016 10:37 a.m. PST

I do not go out of my way to be rude and mean spirited on TMP unless I think that the target deserves it.
And I think that's the case with 99% of the "attacks" from "rude mean spirited" members.
I'm not so deluded as to think that I don't deserve similar treatment.
And it has nothing to do with hiding behind anonymity of the Internet.

It's called "examining your conscience." Does anybody really think their own on line behavior is beyond reproach?

I would like to think my ideas of common (internet) courtesy go significantly further but that would be another debate.

If you wouldn't say it to someone face2face, you probably shouldn't say it on the net.

Yea, that first part is the problem because…I do tell people straight in the face what I think of them – whether face to face or on the internet. Truth hurts.

And as I always say … everybody is entitled to an opinion …

"Truth" is in the eye of the beholder, IMO …

And as I always say … everybody is entitled to an opinion …
"Truth" is in the eye of the beholder, IMO …

If I remember correctly Larry Flynt said something about opinions.

Concerning truth however, I tend to lean towards Churchill. But that shall be the end of my OT.

And those are your opinions … simple as that … Otherwise, if you were looking for an argument, you won't get it from me. At this point …

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP15 Mar 2016 11:23 a.m. PST

Larry Flint's opinion or my opinion or his opinion about my opinion ? huh?

sebigboss7915 Mar 2016 11:26 a.m. PST

Oh if you insist…

And those are your opinions … simple as that … Otherwise, if you were looking for an argument, you won't get it from me. At this point …

No, they are opinions of the people mentioned. I do however agree with them on the respective instance. Still does not make them my opinion but a statement I would endorse.

Why would I be looking for an argument? By stating the fact that my ideas of courtesy exceed the definition you made? Really?

If you really want to be specific your

I think you get the idea … I hope ?

suggests moral superiority and fails your own definition of "common internet courtesy" but I assume such was not your intention.

All I am saying is that the idea of "common courtesy" online and offline is a little wider than most people imagine. Particularly within their own actions people tend to be, shall we say, non-reflecting.

But as I said in my previous post it is increasingly offtopic and should you feel the need to discuss the topic further I suggest opening a topic. Here is the debate on the "tmp bug".

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP15 Mar 2016 11:32 a.m. PST

No … I was not looking for an argument … it was just comment for clarification. And when I said "I hope" … I meant "I hope" I explained my comments clearly. No aspersions cast against you or anyone. But it seems I was not clear. And I had no intent of conveying "moral superiority". Nothing to be morally superior about ? Unless I missed something ? But I think we are saying basically the same thing about internet manners, etc., …
